About this audiobook
Ever since her darling father's untimely death when she was only eighteen, Maud has lived in the family's spacious apartment in downtown Gothenburg rent-free, thanks to a minor clause in a hastily negotiated contract. That was how Maud learned that good things can come from tragedy. Now in her late eighties, Maud contents herself with traveling the world and surfing the net from the comfort of her father's ancient armchair. It's a solitary existence, and she likes it that way.
Over the course of her adventures—or misadventures—this little bold lady will handle a crisis with a local celebrity who has her eyes on Maud's apartment, foil the engagement of her long-ago lover, and dispose of some pesky neighbors. But when the local authorities are called to investigate a dead body found in Maud's apartment, will Maud finally become a suspect?

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Only 4 stories and 2 are the same one, just from a different point of view. But it was a fun read. I enjoyed the glimpse into the Swedish way of life. I certainly wouldn’t want to cross Maud.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Interesting collection of short stories, and very well-written. I don't usually like stories in which the protagonists are criminals, but this author did a good job of not taking the story too seriously. It felt part whimsy, part satire. An elderly lady is a serial killer. Whatever will happen next?
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not much of a point but a fun short collection of darkly humorous stories and an elderly lady who proves to be much more clever (and deadly) than most people would ever suspect.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Maude teaches us to be kind to our elders-or else! Wonderful book. I wish it wasn't so short.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5the first book of a wonderful collection about an elderly lady who is up to no good and really are we going to let her keep getting away with all this? the answer is yes. she's petty, she's frail looking, and she will girlboss gatekeep gaslight you if you underestimate her.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An interesting and amusing character, though not one I would want for a neighbour! Enjoyable short stories.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I freaking love the murdery old lady Maud. This book was a good quick read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Quick and easy to read. I no longer trust little old ladies!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The stories were quite good, but the narrator was not great. She "over-acted" way too much!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very delightful read. Loved every bit of it. Bravo
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is not at all what I was expecting. I was expecting a mischievous elderly lady. She was a bit more than that.

(Scribd audiobook)
This book originally I believe written in Swedish is what you should place in the hands of anyone who assumes that are all elderly ladies are sweet unassuming women who would definitely never do anything bad like let’s say for instance murder. Granted Maud never seems to hurt someone who didn’t deserve it but she definitely proves even little old ladies can take care of issues themselves. This is a short read but definitely a good one. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really liked this book. It was a quick entertaining read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A collection of five short stories about an intriguing old lady named Maude. She has lived in her large apartment all her life, and does so rent free, thanks to a contractual agreement made when her father passed away. Each story is a small glimpse into Maude's world. One would not think such a slight old woman who has all she could want would be in need to murder. But as each story shows, one does what one must to protect what they love and care for. This was such a good and quick read. I found myself getting lost in Maude’s world and at times feeling as though perhaps she was a bit justified in her actions. Filled with dark humor and unique plots I highly recommend this to any fan of murder and mystery. Reading Prompt: A Translated book written by and/or translated by a woman
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wickedly clever, dark humor! Elderly people make the best characters!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story telling. Nothing like I’ve ever read before. Excellent narrator! Only issue I had was the skipping around in placing the stories in the book. Going back and forth from past to present and reverse. It was little confusing when stuff that happened already goes back to before it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Charming "Elderly Lady" story!
Could be Miss Marples cousin.
I was so in to this read, I was surprised when it was over. I plan on reading more Helene Tursten books!
Making a list now.
I can only hope my mind is as clear as this Elderly Lady in the years to come.
I gave it a 4 only because in my humble opinion, the narrator could of done a better job! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it. Wish there was more! Absolutely enjoyable from start to end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good fun and an easy read/listen. Narrator is good too
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I picked this up at the library because I liked the cover: a physically little book with the titled cross-stitched on the cover, like an old fashioned sampler. In spite of the skulls and crossbones also on the cover, I was expecting humorous tales of an elderly Swedish woman. Only to find out she is a serial killer when she feels her way of life threatened. It is funny in its own way and I found myself liking her a lot and didn't fault her for her crimes. Recommend.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Quick fun read. Perfect read in this hot summer afternoon.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A surprisingly spry 88 year old woman with a penchant for murder... The quirky dark humor was good and kept the short stories lights enough to enjoy.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I did not enjoy this book. Helene Tursten, who writes the Detective Inspector Huss series of Swedish crime novels, here turns her hand to writing about Maud, a little old lady with very little conscience and a penchant for murder. Delightful as this sounds, the short stories in the small volume were, to me, written in a fashion that I found unbelievable. I could not get into the old-lady-as-murderer vibe. Many of the things that Maud does are beyond belief for a woman whom I gathered was an octogenarian. Not a great start to the reading year.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I just adore Maude! A brilliant book! It made my day.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A highly interesting short book with an unusual perspective on how old ladies are ignored in society.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a terrific collection of tales about a delightfully awful little old lady. Highly recommend!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Charming. It's light revenge porn, if you will, made amusing by the heroine/villain, who is a little old murder lady. She just wants to live peacefully in her apartment and the world keeps intruding.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I selected this book for the title alone. It’s a very small book with five linked short stories … just 171 small pages with big type and an unlikely octogenarian heroine, Maud. Dark but funny. No spoilers here.Being an old lady myself, I "get" this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I need more Maud immediately. What a fabulous little old lady!
