Often one of the most nerve-racking moments for any boat owner is the annual lift out. Entrusting your pride and joy to the boatyard team and the big reveal of what lurks beneath once she’s lifted can be a stressful time. However, much of this stress can be avoided with good planning and simple steps to help the process run smoothly. Here we’ll break the process down into smaller stages and identify areas where you, as the boat owner or crew, can ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Booking process

The first stage of any lift is always the booking process. This is your first opportunity to get to know the boatyard team and the yard. It’s important at this stage to identify any potential issues going forward, and for the boatyard team to do the same.

Gather a few prices from local yardsthe assistance of a shipwright? It’s always worth giving the yard your preferred lift out and relaunch date too, so they can plan where your boat is put in the yard to avoid any delays when spring comes, and you want to get back afloat.
