HUMAN beings have been feeding themselves, their families and communities from the oceans since prehistoric times. Saltwater creatures such as fish, shellfish and other invertebrates are extremely nutritious.
It once seemed as if there was an endless supply of them, but unfortunately, many populations of these creatures are coming under threat, with some ecosystems on the brink of complete collapse.
With more than 77 billion kilograms of marine life being taken from the sea every year, how are we making sure we don’t run out of this precious resource?
