Royal Mail No. 10
It is always a very closely guarded secret what stamps are going to be issued by Royal Mail, writes Brian Austin. A few very trusted dealers are given advance information in the autumn of what will be issued the following year, but generally, this is not made public until over Christmas, and even then, there are normally a few gaps. Both collectors and dealers like to guess what they hope will be issued, and there are normally some surprises in what is not announced.
In July 1985, Royal Mail issued this set of four stamps to mark their 350th anniversary, but cover producer Adrian Bradbury used this issue to commemorate the 250th anniversary of No. 10 Downing Street being the official residence of the British prime minister. This did not have its own stamp issue, although I think you could claim a connection as I am sure many discussions have taken place about Royal Mail before the iconic black door.
