Vision Pro devs complain of restrictions

A pple typically has a very close relationship with its developer community, but not everyone is happy about how the company has locked down what apps can do on the Vision Pro headset. Despite the criticisms, though, it seems like there’s a good reason for Apple being restrictive over what tools third-party visionOS apps can access.

As highlighted by The Information, some developers have complained that Apple prevents them from accessing the Vision Pro’s camera feed. Developer Kalani Helekunihi, for instance, wants to build an app for elderly people that can give “people with limited vision a description of their surroundings and act as a virtual cane that warns them when they’re approaching obstacles.” Without camera access that doesn’t seem to
