Back to the future
It’s always fascinating to read debut novels and discover new literary voices. This week we have two debuts that, while very different in style and scope, both blend literary sensibilities with elements of genre to produce something new and exciting.
First up is The Other Valley by Canadian author Scott Alexander Howard. Howard is an academic within the field of philosophy, and this speculative and thoughtful novel clearly draws on his background, tackling weighty moral and emotional themes within a fascinating initial premise.
