TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY

RETURNS Sunday, Jan. 14, 9/8c, HBO

It’s been five years since we’ve seen this winning anthology, which follows haunted police detectives solving follows detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro (Academy Award winner Jodie Foster and boxing champion turned actress Kali Reis) as they look into the vanishing of eight research scientists. Danvers, who unhappily reunites with former partner Navarro, is prickly, cantankerous and battles mean inner demons. The role—like the brilliant Clarice Starling in , an inspiration, says López—was practically written for Foster. “She even had ideas of how to make Danvers more dysfunctional,” López adds.
