The wing chair

Few chairs offer such a warm invitation to sink in and settle as the shapely wing chair. Its scale and silhouette add a commanding presence in any interior today, while the enveloping sides give a cocooning sensation for the sitter. Over the centuries, it has been referred to as the cheek chair, easy chair and – the rather less complementary – lug chair, but ‘wing’ is the term that has endured through the years.
