CHINA’S CONCEPT OF A SHARED FUTURE

The Chinese term renlei mingyun gongtongti, cited frequently by President Xi Jinping, poetically describes the Chinese vision of a future, global community, shared by the peoples of the world. While its precise rendering in English remains a matter of some discussion, including “a community with a shared future for mankind/humanity,” “a global community of shared future” and “a human community with a shared future,” and despite the term having evolved conceptually over the past years, its current meaning is quite clear.
