Pulling on my trainers, I opened the door to the bracing cold.
The house was quiet, and my son Callum, 25, was still in bed – but I liked to get out for an early morning walk before work.

Back in February last year, we were still struggling through Covid, and the meal delivery service was a lifeline for frail residents.
Before chaining myself to the stove, whipping up portions of pulled gammon and cauliflower cheese or stew and dumplings, I liked to get some steps in and clear my head.
I was lucky enough to live close to Hartshill Country Park, with stunning woodland and natural beauty around every corner.
Sticking in my headphones, I breathed in the fresh, crisp air.
