TONY KHAN’S PURCHASE of the Ring of Honor property made him a savior in the minds of many wrestling diehards. He secured Ring of Honor’s legacy by outbidding WWE for its video library, and saved its future by promising to revive the ROH brand.
And give Khan credit: He did it with style.
For only the second time, Khan made a scheduled on-air appearance on his flagship program, AEW Dynamite. The first occasion was Brodie Lee’s untimely passing. On the March 2 edition of Dynamite, Khan stood mid-ring with Tony Schiavone and announced his acquisition of ROH. To mark the occasion, AEW kicked off the show with Bryan Danielson vs. Christopher Daniels. Those two had appeared in ROH’s first main event—a three-way match also involving Low Ki—and it was hard to believe that two decades had passed. Danielson caught the 51-year-old Daniels in a triangle choke, smashing him in the face with repeated elbow strikes until he passed out.
It was the perfect way to celebrate Khan’s acquisition, only four days before the highly anticipated Revolution pay-per-view. In a statement released moments later, it was clarified that ROH would be wholly owned by Khan,
