Morgana le Fay is perhaps England’s most famous sorceress. We, of course, know her from Arthurian legend, where she’s known variously as Morgan, Morgana and Morgain.
Anyone who watched the BBC series Merlin will think of her as Arthur’s half-sister, who starts off as his ally but eventually becomes his most vicious and deadly enemy. In most modern films, such as The Kid Who Would Be King, she’s depicted as a beautiful – but extremely evil – enchantress.
Recently, however, she’s been reclaimed as something of a feminist icon, a strong warrior woman and powerful witch battling against the patriarchy! But which was she – good or evil? Well,
