MORGAN’S ROLLER COASTER TO LAND F1000 CROWN
Anail-biting 750MC finals meeting at Snetterton decided seven titles, the most dramatic being those achieved by Lee Morgan, David Drinkwater and Jack Dwayne in F1000, Hot Hatches and Clio 182s respectively.
Morgan started the second of F1000’s three races from pitlane after he’d initially stalled on the line and forced a red flag. Crucially he set the fastest lap to give him pole for race three and second in that behind Thomas Gadd, plus third in race one (despite his Jedi losing its coolant), was enough to secure the driver a second crown.
Gadd’s win in race three came thanks to a late pass on Morgan. He’d also won race one giving him three victories from the last five rounds.
Rob Welham was the winner of race two ahead of Matthew Booth, both these still within a sniff of the title going into the final race. Points leader prior to Snetterton, Dan Gore, suffered three DNFs, thanks to two misfires and also a broken differential after he’d spun to miss Morgan’s stalled car on the grid in race two.
