Pick Me Up! Special

TROLLEY DASH

Heading out of the supermarket with my four-year-old daughter Ella in tow, I checked for traffic before making my way back to my car.

As I pushed my trolley-full of groceries though, something in the car park caught my eye.

Breast cancer awareness.

The huge banner was emblazoned on the side of a parked-up truck, inviting people to come in for a check-up.

Glancing behind me as I passed it, I unlocked my car and hoisted my shopping into the boot, before strapping Ella in and traipsing my trolley to the stacking point.

‘Did you get your pound back?’ Ella said.

But I couldn’t stop thinking about the breast cancer truck.

‘Come on, darling, we’re going to take a look at the truck,’ I said, getting Ella out of the car

As I stood in front of a window, peering in, a woman appeared.

‘Can I have a check-up?’
