    So where are you going to celebrate your wedding anniversary?’ asked Jade during the tea break.

    ‘The garden centre,’ Melissa said between clenched teeth.

    ‘The garden centre?’

    ‘Dave’s getting me some nice shrubs.’

    Seeing the incredulity in her colleague’s face, Melissa added defensively, ‘After all, it’s not a big anniversary. It’s only 24 years.’

    Jade’s eyes widened. She was just 19.

    ‘Sounds big to me!’ she said, then broke off to check her phone.

    ‘Aaah! It’s a text from Finn. He says he loves me lots and sends a bucketload of kisses.’

    ‘That’s sweet. How long have you been going out?’

    ‘Oh, ages. Three months.’
