‘Dave’s getting me some nice shrubs.’

Seeing the incredulity in her colleague’s face, Melissa added defensively, ‘After all, it’s not a big anniversary. It’s only 24 years.’

Jade’s eyes widened. She was just 19.

‘Sounds big to me!’ she said, then broke off to check her phone.

‘Aaah! It’s a text from Finn. He says he loves me lots and sends a bucketload of kisses.’

‘That’s sweet. How long have you been going out?’

‘Oh, ages. Three months.’
