THINK OF CONGER EELS AND you’ll most likely decide they are a species of rugged ground. It’s the obvious conclusion, yet these hard-fighting fish can be unpredictable and turn up at unusual locations.

It means the angler with a good knowledge of the general underwater terrain is certainly at an advantage for locating these battling bruisers. While rock marks are the obvious choice when targeting the big ones, over the years I have found that some shallow clean ground marks will produce quality congers, along with some hefty rays and other species too.
