EVEN ALLOWING for the restrictions of lockdown and the stop-start world we’ve been living in for so long, Fraser Brown had one of the most eventful years of his life in 2020. While many had a quieter existence through the Covid months, the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland hooker went the other way.

First of all, there was the house. They moved in around February time. It was a doer-upper, or a “bomb site” as he called it. The project would have been manageable had the coronavirus not halted the renovations. That’s not great at the best of times, but when you have your first child on the way it’s really not ideal at all.

Theo, a big unit, was born in March, three days before Scotland’s game that never was against Wales in Cardiff. New house, new son. Talk about cramming some of the most challenging and greatest life experiences into a short space of time. Brown and his wife, Jen, weren’t messing
