I started adventure riding in my early twenties. For reasons that remain a mystery, that placed me at the foetus end of the adventure-riding spectrum. For years I tried to get my riding mates to load up and head out for multi-dayers but things like local honeys (not the food kind) and race meets held their attention better than I ever could.
For me, riding is about covering vast distances, exploring new places, conquering challenging terrain and meeting interesting people. Adventure riding covers all of these and then some, so I’ve always been drawn to the strange allure of strapping panniers to an enduro race bike and seeing where I end up.
