Pick Me Up!

PRISONER OF LOVE

I yawned and stretched, feeling myself getting tired.

The news was on the TV, so I checked the time at the bottom of the screen

12am! I thought.

I’d better head to bed…

Pregnant with my son Dylan, and with my four-year-old daughter Jade asleep, it was time to call it a night.

I went to turn off the TV, when a black and white picture on the screen caught my eye.

It was a mugshot of a handsome young man with long dark hair.

I felt myself being drawn to it – it was his eyes.

I’d had the volume down so as not to wake Jade, and before I could turn it up to hear who he was, the bulletin ended.

It was 1996 – there was no rewind function on my TV, let alone internet in my house, so I headed off to bed.
