Route Notes UMBRAWARRA GORGE

QUICK FACTS

The Northern Territory’s Top End is a region synonymous with ruggedly beautiful landscapes, vast wilderness, diverse flora and fauna and loads of baked, red earth. It’s here, tucked away amidst seemingly endless gently undulating scrubby terrain, that the hidden oasis of Umbrawarra Gorge can be found. Tall sandstone cliffs flank the winding waterway creating an ideal place to swim in crystal clear pools, rock hop along the winding creek and really feel away from it all. Oh and go for a climb. Yep rock climbing in the NT! For ease of access, natural beauty and some quality climbing routes Umbrawarra Gorge simply exceeded all of our expectations.

GETTING THERE

From Darwin, pool. To reach the the climbs, we found it easiest to walk a little way past the pool, rock-hop across the creek and skirt back along the base of the cliffs.
