Games World of Puzzles

Best. Year. Ever.

In this, my final “Moving Forward, Looking Back” article, it seems fitting to wrap up the retrospective by celebrating all the best that Games has had to offer over the past 42 years. Games made so many innovative contributions to the puzzling world, it’s hard to know where to start. Notable recurring features of the magazine that deserve celebration include the striking cover art, the one-of-a-kind puzzles, the brilliant articles, and the imaginative contests. With nearly 350 issues published, it would be quite a challenge to pick one as the best issue of all time—but that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

Before I continue, thank you for reading this column over the last nine issues. For me, getting to review the entire Games catalog and write about the experience has made this the best year ever.

COVER ART

I narrowed my choices down to just two, plus a number of honorable mentions.
