Royal Images and emblems– what you need to know
4 September 2024
On 2 September 2024, the Governor-General approved an Order-in-Council to revoke the redundant Commercial Use of Royal Photographs Rules, 1955, 1959, and 1962.
The Department of Internal Affairs regularly reviews legislation it administers to ensure it is fit-for-purpose. A recent review confirmed the Rules were badly out of date, and no longer needed as the Lord Chamberlain’s Office has issued definitive Guidelines on the use of Royal Arms, images, emblems, and the like.
More information about the Lord Chamberlain’s Guidelines, and the Department’s work in supporting official visitors, including members of the Royal Family, is available at the Visits and Ceremonial Office. The Department’s Visits and Ceremonial Office can be contacted at [email protected].
