DELVAUX UNVEILS ITS FIRST FLAGSHIP STORE IN CALIFORNIA

By Max Mendel

Delvaux has opened its first California flagship at South Coast Plaza, embodying Jean-Marc Loubier’s vision of luxury retail as unique and deeply personal. The boutique bridges Belgian craftsmanship with Californian culture, creating a space where time slows, and exceptional design takes center stage.

The store’s façade, inspired by local bioclimatic architecture, introduces a playful contrast between indoor and outdoor elements. Inside, rare design pieces like Ettore Sottsass’s pastel console and a Palm Springs totem complement displays of Delvaux’s iconic leather goods, including the “Brillant,” “Tempête,” and the playful “Cool Box.” These designs, known for their precision and artistry, are integral to the boutique’s story.

Distinct spaces such as the conversational ‘Bar’ area and the private Vic Room highlight Delvaux’s immersive approach to luxury. Historical elements, like Jacques Adnet cabinets, frame collections of refined handbags and accessories, blending European heritage with Californian warmth and modernity.

Using prized materials like Calacatta marble and burnished brass, the flagship embodies Les Arts Décoratifs, balancing beauty and functionality. Displays of Delvaux’s latest creations, including the “Caprice” bag inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, showcase the maison’s ability to merge timeless artistry with contemporary relevance.

Delvaux’s South Coast Plaza boutique redefines luxury retail, offering an unparalleled experience where design, culture, and the Maison’s visionary craftsmanship converge.
