Transformative Visions: Studio Portraits of Black Women in Leadership
Our new publication, Transformative Visions: Studio Portraits of Black Women in Leadership is now available in our shop! This collection seeks to rectify and oversight by offering an exploration of Black women leaders in the Canadian context, through a lens of perseverance, creativity, and pride.
This publication features portraits of 50 women created by four Toronto-based visual artists—Janice Reid, Leyla Jeyte, Jon Blak, and Patricia Ellah as well as essays and reflections including from Sarah Edo, Belinda Uwase, and Courtnay McFarlane.
With the support of Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative and Scotiabank, we are maximizing the footprint of 19 Brock Ave.
The project involves retrofitting the old building to reconfigure the exhibition spaces allowing for more accessible gallery space, multipurpose community spaces, and to create artists' studio and workshop spaces. The current design concepts were developed in partnership with project architect Dami Akinbode from Diamond Schmitt.

The Caribbean Art Meet-Up | Jamaica 2025
We are thrilled to announce the third edition of C|Art, taking place from January 30th to February 2nd, 2025, in Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica. C|Art continues to play a vital role in connecting artists, curators, collectors, dealers, academics, and cultural workers from the Caribbean, United Kingdom, North America, Africa, and the wider African Diaspora.
This year’s edition is set to be particularly special, with renowned photographers Vanley Burke and Ronnie Carrington as our featured guests. The program will kick off with a fascinating dialogue between acclaimed artist, photographer, scholar, and curator Dr. Deborah Willis, and Dr. Christine Checinska from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, UK. We are certain their exchange will captivate and inspire.
