Maple Glazed Cinnamon Rolls
Giant fluffy cinnamon rolls with a sweet maple glaze. A perfect addition to breakfast or brunch!
I recently had the pleasure of taking a mini trip up to Vermont. I’ve previously talked about how absolutely gorgeous it was and how this was my first ever visit there, even though I’ve lived in New England my entire life. I’d happily vacation there time and time again, with some planning. The areas we ventured to were far from seemingly everything. A drive to everywhere, which I’m used to but just not to that degree. The beauty of the area absolutely makes up for all of the driving.
What I wasn’t prepared for was to still see snow. After our long winter, that wasn’t an inviting sight. However, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Mounds here and there, nothing major. But still… snow. Fingers crossed we don’t see any more of it for quite a while!
We stayed at the Top Notch Resort. A gorgeous mountain view resort with touches of Vermont and New England throughout the facilities. From locally sourced food to the subtle details within the rooms, it was a nice change of pace from city hotels.
On our second day, we toured and brunched at the Stowe Mountain Lodge. An amazing resort and the only ski in/ski out resort in the area! I’m not a skier, but I’d absolutely be willing to give it a try knowing they have amazing classes and ski valets to get your gear ready for you! Let’s not forget the incredible spa facilities. I could have moved into that wing of the resort. Stunning and truly relaxing!
One of my many favorite moments of the trip was learning about the maple syrup process and… taste testing at Butternut Mountain Farm. It was such a tasty and educational experience. I love when those worlds combine! I’m always happy to learn when food is involved.
We had the most amazing dinner at Hilton Burlington. A fun tasting dinner with multiple courses. But what really blew me away was the sunset over Lake Champlain. I could get used to that view. It makes me want to pack up and spend the summer there. Such a beautiful sight!
I’m a huge fan of brunch and breakfast… any time of day is fine by me! It doesn’t have to be morning to enjoy all of the flavorful breakfast-y foods. Because Father’s day is upon us, I wanted to create something that tied together my tasty travels to Vermont and my favorite meal of the day!
Easy homemade (GIANT) fluffy cinnamon rolls with a sweet maple glaze. They’re a perfect addition to all of your breakfast and brunching plans! And, an absolutely must make this Father’s day. I promise Dad will be thrilled if you make these. My family couldn’t get enough of these fluffy maple glazed cinnamon rolls! I’m sure yours will be the same!
Maple Glazed Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
Dough:
- 3/4 C milk
- 1/4 C plus 1 tsp granulated sugar, divided
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 C all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 C unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
Filling:
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 C light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Glaze:
- 2 C powdered sugar
- 1/4 C maple syrup
- 2-3 Tbsp water
Instructions
- Heat milk to 115°F. Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp granulated sugar in warm milk, allow to proof for 5 minutes.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, with dough hook attachment, combine flour, remaining 1/4C sugar and salt. With mixer running on low slowly pour in yeast mixture. Mix in butter and vanilla, followed by one egg at a time. Increase speed, mixing until dough comes together. If dough is still sticky, add additional flour one tablespoon at a time until dough comes together in a smooth ball. Transfer to a larged greased bowl. Cover and allow to rise in a warm location until doubled in size, roughly 1 hour.
- Prepare a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper or grease well with baking spray.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon.
- On a silicone counter mat, roll dough into a 10x20-inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Starting at a short end, begin tightly rolling the dough, pinching ends as you roll. Pinch seams together to seal well. Slice into 6 equal pieces. Place in prepared baking sheet, cover loosely and allow to rise in a warm location for one hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until center reaches 200°F. Allow cinnamon rolls to cool partially before icing.
- In a medium bowl, beat together powdered sugar with maple syrup. Add in water to desired icing consistency. Pour or spread glaze over warm cinnamon rolls.

Oh wow! This looks awesome! It reminds me of the time I was on a cinnamon roll baking craze…I think you may just have restarted that craze again.
P.S. Despite all the years I’ve lived on the east coast and the fact that two of my really close friends are from VT, it’s kind of embarrassing that I have not gone to there! SHHHH…
Cinnamon roll baking crazes could never be a bad thing! :) And you must get to Vermont! I’m sure you’ll love it, just time it right.
These look AMAZING!! Definitely trying them soon! Winter has arrived in Cape Town today…
Thank you! I hope you enjoy them!

Ok, i really adore & love your recipes & blog. I totally wish u had a youtube channel would love to see you demostrate all your yummy beautiful recipes
That’s so sweet of you to say! Maybe someday… :)
I’m in the process of making these right now and just set aside the dough for the first rise. I’m making them for breakfast tomorrow….is there a point in the process I can stop and refrigerate so that I can bake them fresh in the morning?
Your best bet would be to prep them until just before the final rise, after filling and rolling. Cover and chill overnight. Follow the same directions as with my overnight apple gingerbread cinnamon rolls. Good luck!
Gorgeous cinnamon rolls and that maple frosting Rachel :)
Thanks Peter!
These look gorgeous! I’m always looking for cinnamon roll recipes, and your recipe has won me over.
