On March 30 Germany declared the important Lebanese political group, Hezbollah, to be a “terrorist” organization and banned it from German soil. By doing so it gratuitously increased the tension in the eastern Mediterranean and exposed Berlin’s lack of credibility on the world stage.
Is it really in Germany’s interest to destabilize a region that has already been crippled by multiple wars? On the surface Germany doesn’t appear to have a stake in the politics of Lebanon. Indeed, from whatever angle the situation is viewed from, Germany qua Germany doesn’t have a meaningful stake in Lebanon. Yet Berlin is assaulting the sovereignty of this small Mediterranean nation that means no harm.

Assignment: Essay; The intention of this assessment is that you develop a case study of an example of state-corporate crime or harm in South East Asia. The portfolio asks students' to develop a series of short explanations of the core theoretical concepts and begin to consider their application in a specific case of state and/or corporate crime. The poster should seek to present your chosen case study of state-corporate crime and harm in SE Asia. The poster and presentation must clearly establish the particulars of the specific example in question. It must also apply some of the critical and theoretical insights of the state-corporate crime literature to the case in example.

My presentation at the Faculty of Law at the KU Leuven in Belgium covered problems of researching economically motivated crimes which have been carried out on behalf the North Korean government and by state employees which embezzle, steal or misuse government property and resources.

This research aims to examine the crime of gratification as part of the criminal act of corruption, which will be seen in Talcott Parson's perspective. Corruption today is a problem for developing countries and has become a world problem that requires integral and transnational handling. One of the most disclosed forms of corruption today is corruption in the form of gratuities. This research method uses normative juridical research with the approach of laws, concepts, and principles and collects primary legal material in the form of Law 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes. The results of this study found that the Cybernetics Theory, which Talcott Parsons coined, views the problem of alleged gratification as being strongly influenced by the economic subsystem , this is because a decision that is made has a significant impact on anyone, so it is not surprising if there is a lot of price bargaining. Moreover, the least impact is the cultural subsystem because this subsystem is only the economic sub-system's impact.
