Global Social Change

En el presente trabajo intento analizar con detenimiento el modo en que fue evolucionando el vínculo teorizado entre los actores y el cambio social en el mundo desde tiempos pretéritos, para lograr discernir en que marco de resolució￳n nos encontramos hoy en América Latina. En el texto voy a suponer que los tres componentes críticos que vienen definiendo las visiones de la relaci￳ón entre los actores y el cambio en el pensamiento social occidental son la unidad de transformaci￳ón en ultima instancia (UT), el vector de ordenamiento (VO) y el principio normativo rector (PN). Las formas concretas y los contenidos que asumieron tales componentes fueron cambiando a lo largo de la historia. Y con cada cambio se complejizó el escenario intelectual, a la vez que se fueron generando nuevos desacoples entre la progresió￳n material del mundo y su evolució￳n simbó￳lica.
Para intentar dimensionar la situaci￳ón que estamos atravesando en las ciencias sociales de nuestro continente propongo trazar una línea de progresió￳n que contempla las diferentes constelaciones intelectuales dominantes que se fueron sucediendo a lo largo de la historia occidental hasta la actualidad. En el texto distingo seis constelaciones consecutivas, cada una de las cuales se corresponde con una transformaci￳ón intelectual mayúscula, ligada a cambios histó￳ricos igualmente sustantivos. A los fines del presente trabajo cobran particular relevancia las tres últimas: i) la constelació￳n moderna clásica, ligada a un estado duradero de monopolio noreuropeo (mitad siglo XIX- mitad siglo XX), ii) la primera constelaci￳ón mundialista, de corta duraci￳ón, asociada a un momento excepcional de recreació￳n autó￳noma de América Latina (mitad siglo XX-fines década de 1970) y iii) la constelació￳n posdictatorial, de mediana duraci￳ón, cuya configuració￳n estuvo condicionada por los macroefectos producidos por la última ola de dictaduras militares desplegada en la regi￳ón (década de 1980-principios del siglo XXI). Cada una de las seis constelaciones que analizo en el trabajo fue delineando diferentes modos de articulaci￳ón, o bien de desactivaci￳ón, de los tres componentes críticos señ￱alados arriba.
Junto a ello, en el trabajo intento demostrar que desde principios del siglo XXI se viene descomponiendo en América Latina la constelaci￳ón posdictatorial de las ciencias sociales. Y señalo que ello está ocurriendo dado el mayor distanciamiento respecto a las experiencias de exterminio social de las décadas del 60 y del 70 del siglo XX, y sobre todo a partir de un conjunto de transformaciones, tanto negativas como positivas, que viene experimentando la regi￳ón en los últimos tiempos. Al final de este texto panorámico extraigo algunas conclusiones que permiten identificar algunos de los grandes desafíos que tenemos por delante para avanzar en la edificació￳n de una ciencia social unificada, aut￳ónoma y universalista, al servicio de la acci￳ón colectiva, y dotada de capacidades suficientes para escudri￱ñar el futuro latinoamericano en el torbellino de los procesos de cambio social mundial. El secreto vuelve a estar en el modo en que concebimos y articulamos la unidad de transformaci￳ón en ultima instancia (UT), el vector de ordenamiento (VO) y el principio normativo rector (PN) para repensar la relació￳n entre los actores y el cambio social en América Latina.

It is not possible to speak of a single systems approach. There are rather of a number of systems approaches, each loosely drawing on different aspects of a family composed mainly of, general system theory, cybernetics, information theory, chaos theory, and complexity theory. Systems approaches have been used in most of the social sciences, particularly sociology and management, but their use has extended into the arts and humanities.Creativity researchers have used systems approaches drawing on very different sources and in very different ways. The main focus has been to highlight creativity as a phenomenon that occurs in the context of multiple systems, and therefore involves a network of interactions.

In the plague epidemic called “black death” in the middle of the 14th century, the death of thousands of people brings frustration, helplessness, hopelessness and uncertainty among people. In addition, the plague epidemic weakens belief in traditional institutions, especially in the church. Social norms, habits, traditions and customs are shaken.

Of course, this epidemic is particularly likely to have dangerous consequences, such as more intervention by governments in the short term. In other words, there is the possibility of a new Age of Totalitarianism.
The coronavirus we live in today will most likely have no devastating consequences, such as the "black plague" in the Middle Ages or the Spanish flu in the late World War I. The biggest factor in this is developments in areas such as health information, hygiene, causes and treatments of diseases. However, disasters will still occur in some countries.
In our country and in the world, there are plenty of people who are silly about the causes of the epidemic, do not turn to the rope, conspiracy theory, diverted and post truth news. "The coronavirus was released by the USA.", "The project of sterilization of Muslims", "The project of Jews seizing the world", "China's biological weapon", "The vaccine is in the hands of great powers", "A simple flu, do not exaggerate.", "Coronavirus 3-5 It was planned by someone 7 years ago. ” such claims are just a few of the other conspiracy theories.
The basis of conspiracy theories is the lack or absence of analytical and critical thinking. However, why, from whom, how, under what conditions, information should be analyzed, comprehension of its different connections, examination of accuracy value, comparison of information from reliable sources, questioning, evaluation according to objective criteria. Let's listen to what he says about this in Bacon 1620:
It is easier to believe that he prefers to believe. Therefore, it is difficult to research difficult things, because; plausible ones, because it reduces hope; from the depths of nature, superstitions; the light of experience, arrogance and pride; he rejects unusual thoughts because of his respect for the public.
Such epidemics have been on going in the history of the world, and they will be in the future. For this, we need to behave in mind, science, humanity, and responsibility rather than conspiracy theories or “foreign conspirators, big and mysterious powers, aliens, etc.”.
Finally, less consumption, less simple life, less social life for a limited time and more science, environment, cooperation, solidarity and solidarity. And always meeting basic needs such as health, shelter, food, water, electricity, heating, clothing free of charge and without discrimination among people…

En el presente libro ofrecemos un conjunto de aproximaciones analíticas a los nuevos actores protagónicos en América Latina de los últimos tiempos, así como a los procesos de cambio social en los cuales están directa o indirectamente involucrados. Aquí partimos de suponer que, para lograr avanzar en el conocimiento de este aspecto sustantivo de la realidad social regional, resulta necesario atender al modo en que evoluciona el vínculo teorizado entre los actores y el cambio social en la galaxia histórica de las ciencias sociales. A lo largo de la llamada historia moderna, las ciencias sociales validaron su existencia en la medida en que fueron capaces de procesar, a partir de propósitos racionales y de valores colectivos, volúmenes ilimitados de complejidad social y de indeterminación histórica. Entre las principales operaciones que demanda la realización científica destacan precisamente la reducción de la complejidad social y la conquista de nuevas síntesis. Ambas maniobras, para poder desplegarse sin mayores extravíos, necesitan romper, enriquecer o bien trascender el sentido común. Tal compromiso científico se expresa con toda intensidad en los diferentes textos que componen este libro.

El año 1968 fue de capital importancia, en los países capitalistas del orbe.  Como nunca antes y constituyéndose en catapulta para el cambio social del futuro inmediato y mediato, universitarios y trabajadores se unieron para dar un mentís a las instituciones del mundo.  Prohibido prohibir: el lema sintetiza la esencia del movimiento, todavía en etapa contestataria, que hoy en día vemos florecer.  México no fue la excepción:  toda una generación -la del 68- aun hoy continúa impulsando las grandes transformaciones nacionales.  En 1970, dos años despues de la conclusión de la fase proactiva y visible del movimiento, ¿cómo piensa un estudiante de los primeros semestres de la licenciatura en sociología, en una universidad también inflamada con los valores y motivaciones de esta gran energía social?  Con retrospectiva histórico-social, el material que aqui se presenta, es una fuente original de información al respecto.

A tizenhárom órára bontott tanmenet első nyolc előadása a társadalmi egyenlőtlenségek, osztályok, rendek, rétegek és elitek fogalmait, illetve azok kutatásának alapjait ismerteti, de kitér az individualizáció, a szubkultúrák, az életstílusok, a miliők és a hálózatok szociológiai vizsgálatára is. Az utolsó öt előadás a magyar társadalom szerkezetének kutatástörténetét tekinti át a második világháború végétől napjainkig.

A jegyzetek, azon túl, hogy felvázolják mások mellett Karl Marx, Max Weber, Émile Durkheim, C. Often, those involved in the formulation of development initiatives especially for rural areas in developing countries, lack the professional skills to understand reasons for the reluctance of rural targets of their programs to accept social change-no matter how relevant to the enhancement of their current standard of living. This paper addresses the role understanding the indigenous means of communication of target rural populations would play in the people " s susceptibility to change agents and their development idea.

This article reviews the legacy of the global Indymedia Center (IMC), a news and information network of 175 autonomous media centres that operated in every world region autonomously of the dominant corporate and public service communications and information systems. Emerging first during protests against the neo-liberal practices of the World Trade Organization, the IMC represented a media-historic moment, one of the first times that social movement media activists were able to bypass the dominant media to produce their own reports and circulate them directly to activists and supporters around the world. My review examines the composition of the IMC's infrastructure and volunteer force, and their technological and communications repertoires in relation to the dominant communications systems, and consider their legacy in succeeding cycles of social movement contention. I then compare the legacy of the IMC with the more recent media-historic moment of the Standing Rock Sioux water protectors who in 2016 tactically employed a land-based mobilization with a movement-directed online and offline communications assemblage to mobilize against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline on their traditional territory. Capturing more US and international dominant media attention than any previous Indigenous movement, and reaching even more people with their self-generated media, they countered the neo-liberal extractivist paradigm of resource exploitation and also affirmed their

30 years since Stuart Hall published his seminal essay, ‘‘Notes on Deconstructing the Popular,’’ the power relations that define the term as well as the way in which scholars study the popular have shifted in profound ways. The authors argue that, rather than simply
equating the popular with popular culture, it is necessary to recognize that the popular is a contingent term that marks the possibility of constituting forms of collective agency and the
potential for bringing about social and political change.

This article outlines the philosophical and pedagogical underpinnings of a masters degree in Transformative Leadership with a specific focus on the role of creativity and self-creation. It uses the design of the degree as a way of address some of the considerable complexities of the field of leadership, but also the larger planetary and personal challenges facing individuals who are committed to contributing to positive social change.

How could one oversee the monumental modern landscape that has been created by continuous technological innovations? Notwithstanding a few students of international relations who have insisted in taking notice, technology has remained an exotic subject matter in International Relations theory (IR). While the interest in technologies is recently growing most IR scholarship remains silent: the fact that we live in a fully integrated and interconnected technological world is largely absent from textbooks and introductions to IR. Neither exist theoretical approaches and paradigmatic debates that are concerned with technologies, nor a specific intra-disciplinary subfield. Against this background, this book explores how technological innovations could be theorized and integrated into IR theories. Revisiting the inroads of theoretical approaches to technologies, it highlights the lightness of IR scholarship. The general framework of IR looks at the world as if there were no materials or rather, as if the pervasive presence of artifacts and infrastructures would have no theoretical relevance for conceptualizing and examining world politics. Drawing on ontological and epistemological understandings from anthropology, innovation economics, and science and technology studies, I take issue with the philosophical foundations of the discipline. The concepts and practices which ultimately sustain this lightness are interrogated: the neglect of technological innovation does not merely result from coincidental intellectual moves. It is rather the result of the “Cartesian complex”—the foundational commitment that renders IR a purely social science that deliberately excludes non-humans and hybrid material modes of agency. A conceptual refashioning is therefore required to the extent to which IR theory aims to accommodate the highly complex and elusive subject matter of technological innovations. This conceptual catharsis does not primarily touch upon epistemological concerns. What is at stake is the limitation of ontological parameters that underpin IR theories. To make sense of the messy technological landscapes, the material agency, and the technologically mediated practices, the prevailing logocentric wisdom needs to be transcended. Against premature metaphysical closure, this book thus contributes to the task of ontological expansion. Firstly, it develops an alternative meta-theoretical foundation coined “explorative realism”. A new meta-theoretical matrix is proposed that renders wider ontological parameters intelligible. Especially, the “double-mixed” zone encourages ontological expansion via notions of heterogeneous agency and process philosophy. This implies that IR scholars avoid treating time, space, knowledge, artificial objects, and built environments as constants but as always croproduced. A coproductive commitment opens up new empirical issues and concerns as well as radically different theoretical puzzles. It also implies overcoming Cartesian dualism, abandoning intentionality-based notions of agency, and forgetting the “level of analysis” assumption. Secondly, this book advances a theoretical toolbox consisting of two interrelated concepts: “assemblages” and “creative destruction”. The former term signifies evolving actor-networks as unit of analysis entailing both humans and non-humans. The latter captures the ways in which technological innovations give rise to, alter or destabilize assemblages across all levels through a process of translation. This theoretical vocabulary also reconceptualizes the meaning of “power”, “authority” with reference to technological innovations. Three models of creative destruction enable the mapping of magnitudes of translations, the changing size and topologies of assemblages and the shifting power and authority. These efforts to theorize technological innovations, then, support empirical research about global transformations as processes of emergence with a set of conceptual tools that allows locating and systematizing cases, puzzles, and scales in relation to assemblages. The study of technological innovations leads to the discovery of novel empirical landscapes and inspires a creative questioning of IR’s foundations. As such, while responding to the dearth of theoretical approaches in IR that make sense of technological innovations, this study contributes to the articulation of both a materialist and a post-Cartesian version of IR.

This is an investigation of the gap between the availability of the Internet and the actual, productive use of the Internet.  Despite benefits that the proponents of the Internet promise, there remains the encroaching specter of a new digital divide. Without investigation of this gap, the disparities between the haves and have nots may worsen. There is evidence of opportunities on the Internet to improve one’s own life in areas like health, education, employment, and environmental activism. However, the availability of Internet technology is not enough to meet global, social needs. Factors contributing to the productive use of the Internet are the focus of this study. This is a mixed method study that includes field data, interviews, and a survey. The objective was to expose and analyze the nature of Internet use within the parameters of human need areas: health, education, employment, and environmental activism. Common themes behind individual and organizational Internet use are investigated.  Then, outstanding factors associated with the productive Internet use experience are identified. The objective is to address a wider population of Internet users around the world who can use the Internet to improve their own lives and the lives of others. As a proposed long-term result, opportunities can be accessed on the Internet; global, social health can improve, and the playing field in the international arena can become balanced.

Creativity and imagination are the most important ingredients for coping with post-normal times, according to Sardar.This paper looks at the way creativity itself is being transformed in the West, from the individualistic/atomistic view of Modernity towards a more contextual, collaborative, complex approach. It explores the potential and possibilities for this more participatory creativity to help go beyond the ‘‘crisis of the
future,’’and argues that the centrality of creativity must go beyond the mythology of genius and inspiration to inform philosophy, ethics, and action. Philosophical reflection and the imagination of desirable futures can emerge from a creative ethic that stresses the value of generative interactions and contexts that support creativity.

Lo que aquí se presenta es el resultado de hacer un seguimiento diario-analítico de la acción, en un segundo intervalo del gobierno federal mexicano 2018-2024, presidido por el Licenciado Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Cubre la etapa que va del 1 de diciembre 2019 al 27 de marzo de 2022. Es decir, desde su primer informe anual de gobierno, hasta su ratificación en consulta sobre revocación o no revocación de su mandato. Se publica en forma de epistolario (correspondencia y notas) del Dr. Xavier Gamboa Villafranca.
Cada pieza de información es unitaria en sí mísma. Tan pronto se produjo. fue publicada en facebook y en tres grupos selectos de whastapp. Además su respectivo  “encabezado” se integró al libro, también en proceso, sobre resurección de la humanidad en el año 3000.
El mencionado intervalo de tiempo fue seleccionado, básicamente debido a dos consideraciones:
i)En su transcurrir, se consolidan las operaciones de la cuarta transformación.  En la etapa que va de 1 diciembre 2018 a 1 de diciembre de 2019, se sentaron las bases legales, sociales,  económicas, políticas, ideológicas y técnicas mínimas necesarias. 
ii)Durante los siguientes  39 meses (2019/12/01 a 2022/03/21) se profundiza la  satisfacción de las necesidades humanas fundamentales, a escala nunca antes vista. En una coyuntura en que, por un lado está el antes, durante y despues de una emergencia social, por la pandemia del coronavirus.  Y, por el otro, la oposición derechista presiona infructuosamente, sobre todo ideológicamente, para intentar detener la Cuarta Transformación y hasta volver al régimen neoliberal. Además, en esta segunda etapa, sin llamarlo por su nombre, cobró progresiva vigencia el contenido de los 21 artículos del  consenso sobre la humanidad del tercer milenio. Queda demostrado por la praxis, retratada en este documento, del gobierno federal mexicano 2018-2024 que sin duda es el principal impulsor a nivel planetario de este proceso. 
Se toma como fuente prioiritaria de información primaria, la difundida amplamente por el Presidente López Obrador en sus conferencias diarias e informes sobre avances.  Obvia decir que el método de indagación corresponde al de la ciencia social cualitativa, aplicada al aestudio de la coyuntura. Particularmente, vía la aplicación de la técnica de anállisis de contenido, utilizando privilegiadamente el análisis inferencial de citas textxuales.
Las categorías empleadas para agrupar la información y presentar resultados del análisis inferencial, corresponden al articulado del Consenso sobre la Humanidad del Tercer Millenio:  Normas para planeta tierra y universo.  Se ha dejado el texto original de cada capítulo y artículo, para que quede constancia del documento completo, en el índice de contenido.

En mis escritos y publicaciones, me refiero frecuentemente a la estructura real que permite al poder plutocrático operar su férreo dominio sobre los habitantes del planeta tierra.  Pero... ¿Quienes la componen?  ¿Como funciona?  En otras palabras  (importando conceptos de la ciencia de la física y usándolos en el terreno de la sociología política) ¿cuál es la estática y la dinámica de esta estructura del pode?
Para responder a estas interrogantes, durante 2012-2013 coordiné un estudio exploratorio, de ciencia aplicada a describir e interpretar el funcionamiento de la estructura mundial del poder oligárquico.  La respuesta a la primera de las señaladas interrogantes, la he puesto a puesto a acceso libre y gratuito, en la presente publicación.
Son de mencionar, cuatro consideraciones: 
1)Los resultados que se exponen, están libres de polvo y paja; de ahí que su forma sea la de un paradigma.   
2) Es un documento organizado según nivel jerárquico ocupado en la estructura de poder plutocrático-mundial.
3)Toda la información aquí contenida se identificó, accesó y recopiló en fuentes PUBLICAS, de internet abierto.
4)Los nombres de organizaciones y personas se refieren al 2013; ojalá  que quienes se animen a aplicar el mismo método de abordaje, puedan actualizarlas, por ejemplo, para 2018 o el año en que resulte que esté recopilándose la información empírica.

Las dos primeras décadas del tercer milenio atestiguan un proceso de creciente autodestrucción de las instituciones del poder plutocrático1 en el planeta tierra.  Se van pudriendo, esencialmente por exceso en hipocrecía, ambición e ignorancia.  Estos antivalores son los que acaban por erosionar las bases institucionales de la operación de su férreo dominio sobre clases sociales, localidades e individuos del globo terráqueo. 
Pero todo, segun la mas elemental de las reglas de la dialéctica, tiene su opuesto.  El poder plutocrático mundial -y oligárquico “nacional”- no es la excelpción.  Tiene su contra.  Consiste en un movimiento social. Inicia abiertamente en las montañas chiapencas de México, con el alzamiento en armas del EZLN en 1994.  También es de cobertura mundial.  Es un mecanismo básicamente espontáneo, al principio; y crecientemente articulado, despues. 
Sus banderas originarias son de respuesta-rechazo. Se caractriza por ser  antiplutocrático, en particular; y anticapitalista, en general. Luego, con el paso del tiempo, se va haciendo cada vez más constructivo de la nueva sociedad planetaria.   
¿Quienes lo componen?  ¿Cuáles son sus niveles de toma de deciiones y mando?
Para responder a estas interrogantes, durante 2010-2011 coordiné un estudio exploratorio, de ciencia aplicada a describir e interpretar el funcionamiento de la estructura de este movimiento mundial anticapitalista.  Los resultados obtenidos se presentan en este documento.  Es necesario advertir:
1)Se presentan en forma paradigmática.   
2)Su contenido está organizado según categorías de toma de decisión y mando, que van de “menos, a “ mas” nivel jerárquico
3)Los datos para construir el paradigma fueron identificados, accesados, recolectados, electrónicamente capturados y clasificados en fuentes PÜBLICAS de información, principalmente en internet, que existían cuando se realizó su búsqueda sistemática.

The "Greek crisis" was officially inaugurated on May 2010 with the loan the Greek government took from the IMF-European Union-European Central Bank troika, the largest a country had ever taken (€110 bn). Since then, the social implications of this crisis have been dramatic. The form and the scale of social phenomena observed today in Greece and particularly in Athens--e.g., extreme poverty and inequality, profound police violence, organized racist violence--are unprecedented for the country. Nevertheless, a diachronic examination of some socio-spatial aspects of Athens reveals that the social character of the current crisis has been taking shape for some time. This article aims shed light on the social shape of the crisis by outlining three such socio-spatial dimensions as they materialized in the case of Athens during 1990s and 2000s: first, the emergence of new forms of social exclusion and inequality; second, the vast project of urban (re)development and the new spatialities it produced, and third the emergence of novel forms of political and xenophobic violence.

Education today in most of the world is more suited to the nineteenth-century industrial era than it is to the twenty-first century. There are three key aspects to this insight. Firstly, knowledge is evolving. The fragmentation of knowledge through specialization is widely regarded as being unsuited to the complexity of the twenty-first century by scholars and thinkers from many fields (including complexity science, ecology, futures studies, integral studies, philosophy and psychology). Yet education is still largely a piecemeal affair. Secondly, consciousness is evolving, and education needs to evolve with it. Research on the evolution of consciousness — pioneered by Rudolf Steiner in the early twentieth century (Steiner [1926] 1966) — has gathered impetus throughout the twentieth century. These theories are still marginalised by narrow Darwinian notions of biological evolution. However, evidence to support the evolution of consciousness comes from three main sources: from integral theorists (Donald 2001; Elgin 1997; Gangadean 2006; Hart 2001; László 2008; Russell 2000; Swimme 1992; Thompson 1998; Wade 1996); from adult developmental psychology research on postformal reasoning (Bassett 2005; Commons et al. 1990; Commons and Richards 2002; Cowan and Todorovic 2005; Kohlberg 1990; Labouvie-Vief 1992; Sinnott 1998, 2005; Torbert 2004); and from the literature on planetary consciousness (Benedikter 2007; Earley 1997; Elgin 1997; Gangadean 2006; László 2006; Montuori 1999; Morin and Kern 1999; Nicolescu 2002; Russell 2000; Swimme and Tucker 2006). My own research over the last decade on the evolution of consciousness confirms my view that education urgently needs to evolve (Gidley 2007a, 2007b, 2009, 2010a, 2010b). Thirdly, education belongs in the realm of culture, not economics. Educational bureaucrats produce concepts such as the “knowledge economy” which appropriate education for the purpose of profit. While schooling was taken over during the Industrial Revolution to provide fodder for the factories, education is fundamentally a socio-cultural practice. In the post-industrial twenty-first century education needs to be primarily concerned with developing the minds, hearts and souls of young people, to live in an increasingly complex and uncertain world. What do today’s educators know about, and think about, these challenges? What is the role of educational futures in these major developments? "The concept of improvisation has become increasingly popular in the discourse of organizational theory. This paper explores the several aspects of improvisation, in the context of musical, organizational, and everyday activities, in order to address some of the philosophical issues relevant to this emerging interest. It addresses, for instance, the way the term improvisation has fallen into disrepute, referring to something that is, ultimately, a pale and messy copy of the ‘correct’ way. It argues that in western music, this can be traced to the modernist valorization of the order provided by a written musical score, perfectly representing the composer’s wishes, and the concomitant devalorization of the spontaneity and creativity of musicians who, before approximately 1800, improvised a substantial amount of their performances. Connections are made between the modernist concept of organization and postmodern or complexity-based approaches that stress creativity as an emergent property of the relationship between order and disorder. It concludes by suggesting that the study of improvisation demands a profound immersion into (inter-)subjectivity, emotions, time, aesthetics, performance, and social creativity, none of which have traditionally been the focus of organization and management studies, or the social sciences in general."

This article is a manifesto for anarchist geographies, which are understood as kaleidoscopic spatialities that allow for multiple, non-hierarchical, and protean connections between autonomous entities, wherein solidarities, bonds, and affinities are voluntarily assembled in opposition to and free from the presence of sovereign violence, predetermined norms, and assigned categories of belonging. In its rejection of such multivariate apparatuses of domination, this article is a proverbial call to nonviolent arms for those geographers and non-geographers alike who seek to put an end to the seemingly endless series of tragedies, misfortunes, and catastrophes that characterize the miasma and malevolence of the current neoliberal moment. But this is not simply a demand for the end of neoliberalism and its replacement with a more moderate and humane version of capitalism, nor does it merely insist upon a more egalitarian version of the state. It is instead the resurrection of a prosecution within geography that dates back to the discipline’s earliest days: anarchism!

In the past 30 years there have been dramatic changes in the discourse and practices of creativity has changed dramatically. New transdisciplinary perspectives are providing a more complex view of creativity that is not limited to individual genius. I explore some of the historical assumptions about creativity and the implications of an emerging view that sees creativity not as a marginal phenomenon but as the very heart of existence.

This article puts forward two main arguments. First, it highlights the relation between different phases of neoliberalism in Morocco together with the specific methods and techniques of urban government that were deployed in efforts to govern the slums and their populations. A period of roll back neoliberalism during the 1980s generated reforms that tried to increase government control over the urban territory to compensate for the negative social outcomes of structural adjustment. The subsequent period of roll out neoliberalism coincided with the attempt to manage and regulate the slum population as such, through new modalities of state intervention. Secondly, while evolutions in neoliberal government reflected a gradual process, this transition in Morocco was accelerated by security concerns following two severe moments of urban violence: the 1981 riots and the 2003 suicide bombings in Casablanca. Therefore, Morocco’s recent political transformations cannot be understood in terms provided by the mainstream narrative linking economic liberalization to democratization. Rather, it reflects a profound shift towards intrinsically authoritarian modalities of neoliberal government which are clearly revealed at the urban scale.

For almost 200 years, the nature of consciousness has been largely explored from the assumption that it was an as yet not understood neurophysiological process entirely resident in the organism. Its inherent physicality became a canon. From this materialist perspective, moments of genius are genetics and conditioning, spiritual epiphany is delusional, and psychic functioning - or nonlocal consciousness as it should more properly be called -- is impossible. And yet the experimental and social outcome research refutes such a view. Instead, the data proposes that nonlocal awareness, that is opening to nonlocal consciousness, at both the individual and social level is the essential process.  These three mysterious human experiences have played and will continue to play, a major role in social change. The experiences of individuals and our reactions to them, create the social trends that transform our world. An individual has an insight, it impresses others and, in response their small quotidian acts, individual choices, made in the same time frame create social trends.

What is the relationship between metaphysics and political revolution? Despite being two of the most widely discredited concepts in contemporary European philosophy, this chapter argues that we are witnessing the return of both in the work of French philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Alain Badiou. Their return, however, is no mere repetition of the previous forms of classical metaphysics and modern revolution- defined by totality and the state. Rather, it is a differen- tial return: a return that changes something fundamental about these concepts and breathes into them a desperately needed new life. Many contemporary Eu- ropean philosophers have announced the "end of metaphysics" and the "death of philosophy." They have buried the ideas of metaphysics and revolution many years ago, but continue to pursue the endless task of vilifYing them- Jest their specters return from the grave.

Ten years ago, a seemingly titanic wave of contention swept the globe. This article reflects on how the impact of a wave of contentious political action that is now a full decade old manifests today. These "legacies of contention"-the historically contingent impact of contentious episodes-can variably re-enforce, undermine, or depart substantially from the original focus of a given contentious episode, a sign of how difficult it can be to extrapolate from the causal impact of contentious politics in the near-run. Herein we discuss the fates of some of the 2011 contentious episodes, including Syria, Greece, Israel, England, and the United States.

This is an exploratory research to examine the possible impact of using the internet on students' academic, personal and social life. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used in this study. For collecting quantitative data, a total of 85 samples were drawn purposively and interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. In addition, 2 case studies were conducted for the qualitative part of this study. Findings reveal that almost every student in the study area uses the internet to some degree. From the study it is found that about 56% of respondents use the internet for educational purpose, 24% of them use the internet only for recreation and 44% were found who use the internet to browse social networking sites. The study also indicates that the majority of the students use the internet for 0-4 hours per day. A significant proportion of the respondents said that the internet can positively enhance their academic performance and as well as improve their quality of life. On the other hand, results have shown that internet addiction has a negative impact on students' academic performance and social life. Overall, the internet plays a vital role in improving students' academic performance and quality of life.
