This study examined the economics of catfish production in Nigeria using Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria as a case study. To achieve the study objectives, 40 catfish producers were randomly sampled and data for the study were collected with the aid of questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and net farm income analysis were employed for the analysis of the data collected. The study findings show that most (85%) of the catfish farmers were males, and majority of them are in their active ages (<35 to 55 years). About 20% of the total population sampled was involved in full time catfish farming and 80% were able to finance their catfish farm from personal savings. Majority of the respondents have rich experience in catfish farming and have attained some level of education which is expected to influence their output positively. The total cost of catfish production was estimated to be ₦584,968.041 ($1,614.73) per production cycle (average 7 months), and the total revenue generated from the sale of market size catfish in the study area was ₦2,257,098 ($6,226.48) per production cycle. The respondents made a net farm income of ₦1,672,129.96 ($4,615.70) in one production cycle (average 7 months). This indicates that catfish production is profitable in the area. To enhance the performance of catfish production, the study recommends improvement in infrastructural facilities that will create an enabling environment for increased productivity and profitability.
This study carried out economic analysis of catfish production among fish farmers in Osogbo metropolis, Osun State, Nigeria. Materials and Methods: Primary data were collected from respondents using structured questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics particularly, regression analysis were used to analyze the data obtained. Results: It showed that 58.33% of the farmers were male while 70.00% were educated to tertiary level. Mean age of farmers and mean numbers of ponds were found as 40 years and 2 respectively. The seven (7) most adopted improved fish farming technologies among respondents included use of floating feed (98.3%), record keeping (96.7%), liming of pond (95.0%), treatment against diseases (93.3%), improved breeds of fingerlings (90.0%), standard feeding regime (88.3%) and optimum stocking rate (86.7%) while the three (3) least adopted technologies included personal hatchery facilities (23.33%), use of sex reversal method (23.3%) and feed fortification using root/tuber crops (13.3%). The fish farmers were able to break even from catfish production and made profit with BCR of 1.5. Findings also revealed the gross margin of fish farmers for a single cropping season as ? 240,423.42. Results of regression analysis showed that costs of water (p 0.05), pond conditioning (p 0.01), fingerlings (p 0.01) and transportation (p 0.05) influence respondents' profit positively while cost of drugs (p 0.01) had negative influence on gross margin. Conclusion: Based on findings, the study concluded that catfish production using improved technologies is profitable in the study area. It is recommended that concerted efforts be made to enlighten unemployed youths and school leavers on the lucrativeness of catfish farming using improved technologies.

This study assessed the economics of catfish farming in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. Snowball sampling techniques was used in selecting 84 catfish famers for the study. Data was collected through the use of structured questionnaire, administered to the selected catfish famers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, net farm income and multiple regression analysis. Costs and return structure showed a mean value cost of production N1, 151, 460.67 with mean revenue of N1, 788, 663 and a gross margin of N703, 776.33. Gross ratio and operating ratio were 1.55 and 0.61, respectively; while, return per naira invested was 61k. The greater than one value of gross ratio indicated that catfish farming was profitable; while a less than one operating ratio shows that catfish farmers were efficient in managing costs. The result of the regression showed that fingerlings have a positive and statistically significant at 1%, feed at 5% and the f-value is significant at 1%. ...

Socioeconomic determinant to the output of catfish farmers in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra state, Nigeria was studied. The objectives of the study are to describe the socioeconomic characteristics of the catfish farmers, analyze the effect of the farmers' socioeconomic characteristics on their outputs, determine the profitability of catfish production and to identify the constraints to catfish production in the study area. Sixty (60) respondents were randomly selected using multi-stage random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire and oral interview were used to elicit information from the respondents for addressing the objectives of the study. Percentage responses, multiple regression analysis, gross margin and profit analysis were used to address the objectives of the study. The result of the socioeconomic characteristics shows that majority of the catfish farmers were male, youthful and literate. The socioeconomic determinants to catfish farmers' output were educational level, membership of cooperative and farming experience. Catfish production was profitable in the study area with gross margin of N323,600 and profit of N155,100. However, the major constraints to catfish production in the study area were poor access to credit, high cost of feed and cannibalism. The need to enhance farmers' access to improved catfish fingerlings, adult education and credit from microfinance and commercial banks were recommended
Effect of socioeconomic variables on the output levels of catfish farmers in Anambra State, Nigeria was studied using information from sixty respondents. The objective of the study were to,(i)describe the socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents, (ii) determine the profitability of catfish production (iii) analyze the farmers' socioeconomic factors that influence catfish production and (iv)identify the constraints to catfish production in the study area. A well structured questionnaire was used to collect appropriate information as relates to primary data. Percentage response was used to address objectives i and iv. Gross margin and profit analysis were used to address the objectives ii, while objective iii was addressed using multiple regression. The result of the socioeconomic characteristics shows that majority of the catfish farmers were male, youthful and had formal education. In addition, catfish was profitable in the study area with gross margin of N323,600 and profit of N155,100. Furthermore, the socioeconomic determinants to catfish farmers' output were educational level, membership of organizations and farming experience. Finally, the major constraints to catfish production were poor access to credit, high cost of feed and poor fish seed. Farmers' access to improved fingerlings and education and credit were recommended
— The study was on economics of catfish production in Anambra State of Nigeria. Structured questionnaire and oral interview were administered on sixty catfish farmers selected from the state. The fast-spreading information over the internet is essential to support the rapid supply of numerous public utility services and entertainment to users. Social networks and online media paved the way for modern, timely-communication-fashion and convenient access to all types of information. However, it also provides new chances for ill use of the massive amount of available data, such as spreading fake content to manipulate public opinion. Detection of counterfeit content has raised attention in the last few years for the advances in deepfake generation. The rapid growth of machine learning techniques, particularly deep learning, can predict fake content in several application domains, including fake image and video manipulation. This paper presents a comprehensive review of recent studies for deepfake content detection using deep learning-based approaches. We aim to broaden the state-of-the-art research by systematically reviewing the different categories of fake content detection...
