Technology has been a great help with various organizations including academic institutions in making transactions easier and faster. Schools have been incorporating information systems that could ease the difficulties on handling large amounts of data and tedious processes. This study focuses on one of the major information systems being used by these academic institutions, the Enrollment System which also includes the assigning of schedule, sectioning of classes, and monitoring of enrollment requirements. The system also utilizes descriptive analytics to provide an accurate enrollment report.

The design and development of an enrollment management database at the State University of New York College at Oswego are described. A basic premise is that the concept of enrollment management has begun to replace the traditional admissions model. Enrollment management helps the college identify existing and potential markets; determine resource allocation and programming strategies needed to effectively serve its clientele; and, forecast enrollment and rates of retention/attrition for various student cohorts, as well as determining the causes of attrition. The primary purpose of the enrollment management database are: to integrate longitudinal external and internal environmental trend data; and to track students from initial contact, through application, enrollment, retention, graduation, and alumni followup. The database provides information that covers: reasons the college is attended; characteristics of matriculants, persisters, and dropouts; and personal and/or institutional variables that affect enrollment, retention, attrition,.and the benefits accrued by students as a result of attending the college. Data components of the database are outlined. (SW)

The traditional “paper and pen” method of student records handling manual enrolment system has been bungling the advising and enrolment process every semester. More related issues were raised by stakeholders who compelled the school to acquire and install a new system. The fundamental objective of the system was to bring the level of student record into a structured form. With such a mindset, the system was assumed to consequently improve the conduct of advising and enrolment processes in the school. To expedite the comparison, the author chose the queuing methodology as it allows generate low – cost and affordable technologies include SMS as well as barcode which area also injected into the computerized enrolment system. Further, in programming the application system, the author as FOSS advocate himself, used open – source web engineering tools along the lines of Apache 2 for web service, PHP 5 for server – side scripting, MYSQL for database service, XML AJAX, Code 3 of 9 bar codin...

This paper discusses an innovation in teaching the Systems and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in the Graduate School of Management and Technology at University of Maryland University College. The innovation is a Meta-Project that takes the form of a series of linked projects across the four classes that cover the SDLC. The benefits that the Meta-Project provides the student with, are a better understanding of the interaction between the phases in the SDLC, and a better ability to cope with the vagueness of the real world.

The design and implementation of computerized students’ admission system is focused at realizing an efficient computation of students’ results. These complaints arise from problems discovered in the manual system which not only include inefficiency, inaccuracy, time consumption and inconvenience but laborious and sluggish. The proposed model is focused with studentship monitoring, storing students' fundamental academic records, tracking students if there is any form of wrongdoing, and checking every certificate issued by Ghana Communication Technology University in the future to ensure that false admittance is greatly decreased. An institution cannot function without information; hence an information system is similar to the nervous system in the human body. In this project, a review of other project works was performed and analyzed, giving the same problems listed in the project. Chapter three is a systematic design on how to execute a web design for the admission portal. ER Diagram and Design model were introduced to explain the details of the admission portal. In Chapter 4, there was an implementation of the designed program. The admission portal was administered in three stages, the first stage which is the first page is the login page. The second stage is the admission requirement and the documents needed to complete the admission form and the third stage is where the admission form is downloaded. After downloading the admission form, applicants are supposed to fill them up and upload them unto the same page, including the documents required for the admission form. After that, there is a submit button to submit all documents. This program was designed using PHP and HTML for the frontend design and DJANGO for the backend design. This program will eradicate the problems that both staff and students face.
The rapid growth of Information in today’s world call for technology to be used in handling the ever increasing Information. Universities and Colleges keep tons of information about their students, academic staff, research and etcetera. Through studying the current existing system, it was easier to design and develop a functional, scalable and efficient Information System for the College of Computer Science and Information Technology. In-line with today’s technology, the College Information System eliminates most of the paper work within the college. Information concerning students, Courses and lecturers can well be managed using the system as opposed to paper work, which is associated with; time wastage, loss of information, inefficiency in updating records, and inaccuracy. The use of an Information System in a College not only eliminates the paper work for efficiency, but also aids the College administration in the decision making process, since reports and other management information can be generated from the system.
