The Middle to Upper Palaeolithic transition in France and northern Spain reflects the transition from Neandertals to Homo sapiens and the emergence of novel cultural entities and standardised blade and bladelet technologies between ~ 55 and 40 thousand years ago. The Châtelperronian stone tool industry represents the first unambiguous appearance of Upper Palaeolithic technologies in this region, and is traditionally considered as representing a geographically isolated archaeological entity produced by late Neandertals. However, debate as to the makers and origin of this industry has been ever-present. In recent years, fuel has been thrown onto this discussion through (a) the demonstration that the association between Neandertal remains and Châtelperronian artefacts at the key site of Saint-Césaire could not be reliable, (b) the identification of an immature Homo sapiens pelvic fragment in association with Neandertal remains and Châtelperronian artefacts at the Grotte du Renne (Arcy-sur-Cure), and (c) the formulation of a disruptive hypothesis in which the Châtelperronian directly originates from the Early Upper Palaeolithic of the Levant. In conjunction with the increasing evidence for a protracted presence of Homo sapiens across Europe, these observations have led to the arrival of an inflection point for the competing interpretations concerning the origin and implications of this industry. In this paper, we provide a critical review of the Châtelperronian in light of the emerging data-taking into account technological, chronological, geographic, stratigraphic, and genetic perspectives. First we provide a detailed, three-part historiography of this industry and a modern, synthetic review of Châtelperronian lithic technology. Our review reinforces the fact that the Châtelperronian is a fully Upper Palaeolithic industry with no 'transitional' nor Initial Upper Palaeolithic-type technological features. Subsequently, we highlight a series of prospects, problems, and uncertainties which remain to be addressed in discussions concerning the origins, maker(s), and implications of the Châtelperronian and the onset of the Upper Palaeolithic in western Europe. Finally, we propose a few potential paths forward and call for an open and critical approach towards the re-conceptualisation of the Châtelperronian in the years to come.

Media, Dissidence and the War in Ukraine, 2024
This chapter offers a comparative analysis of mainstream Israeli news coverage of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine and Israel’s 2014 incursion into the Gaza Strip. The comparative analysis focuses on evidential standards. The chapter finds that the studied news coverage exhibits inconsistent evidential standards across the two arenas, shifting as a function of political affinity. It also theorizes how evidential standards are shaped in society via communicative processes. Finally, it integrates its finding of inconsistent evidential standards in Israeli news coverage, with the proposed theorization. Doing so, it suggests that evidential standards in Israeli society are set primarily by social power, at least so far as questions of war and peace are concerned.

This paper aims to investigate the role of innovation in achieving competitive advantage among private airlines in Egypt. Data was collected from four private airlines. To gather data; two versions of the surveys were distributed. The first was for airlines' executives and consultants, and the second was for passengers. While 34 valid surveys were collected from the airlines' executives, a total of 310 valid surveys were collected from passengers. The results showed there is a statistically significant relationship between the elements of innovation and competitive advantage in airlines. The study provides the Egyptian government with recommendations on paying more attention to developing the innovation system and embedding its culture in society. Secondly, recommendations directed at top management in airlines include: matching on-board services to today's passengers' interests and adopting features such as online food ordering and pre-ordering meals. Additionally, to adopt technological innovation such as AI-based improvements and the AI-enabled food waste management system.
The paper analyses a hermeneutic conception of art (relying on Gianni Vattimo's account). It primarily focuses on the claim that art should be understood as a happening of truth (Heidegger) and thus as a practice of transformation. It argues that the claim has important ontological consequences, supporting this argument with references to Heidegger and Gadamer. In turn, this argument prompts an ontological investigation of art. The proposed ontology has at least four elements: first, works of art, which challenge producers and recipients; second, interpretive activities performed by those who engage with works of art in order to follow the configurations actualized by artworks; third, everyday activities that are transformed through the interpretive activities in question; and fourth, activities of art criticism that recipients use to evaluate the impulses they get from works of art. The being of art is constituted by a practice that brings together these elements in their relations to one another.
