In this work, a chemical bath deposition (CBD) method was employed for the synthesis of ZnS nanofilms. These ZnS nanofilms were grown two dimensionally on a silica glass substrate immersed in a colloidal solution of ZnS nanopartilces. These colloidal ZnS nanoparticles were prepared by mixing equivolume and equimolar (0.5M) solution of zinc sulphate dehydrate and thiourea in the presence of ammonia at room temperature and 3% solution of Poly-Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) was added to it as capping agent. In TEM analyses, the formation of the different size of ZnS nanofilms was observed. XRD analysis showed that sample prepared were the cubic Zinc blende structure with particles’ size in the ranges 5nm -12nm and the measured spacing of crystallographic plane is about 0.27nm. Room-temperature optical absorption spectroscopy exhibits the presence of two separate excitonic characters inferring that the as-prepared ZnS nanostructures have some crystal defects. Due to the simplicity of this synthesi...

In this paper, zinc sulfide nanoparticle (ZnS-NP) thin films were deposited onto glass substrates by chemical bath deposition using zinc sulfate as the cation precursor and thiourea as the anionic precursor. Different bath temperatures (65, 70, 75, and 80°C) and different deposition times (20, 30, 40, and 50 min) were selected to study the performance of ZnS thin films. Topographical and optical characterizations of the films were studied using the atomic force microscope (AFM) and UV-Vis spectroscope. The best ZnS thin films were deposited at a bath temperature (70°C) and a deposition time (30 min) with homogeneous distribution, high density, and small average diameter (106 nm). The energy gap (Eg) was found to be in the range of 4.05-3.97 eV for the ZnS films. Optical constants (refractive index, n, extinction coefficient, k, and dielectric constant, ε) of the films were obtained in the wavelength range 300-500 nm by using spectrophotometric measurement. The dispersion of the refr...

The growth of nanocrystalline zinc sulfide thin films onto glass substrates by chemical bath deposition has been optimized at acidic pH. Powder X-ray diffraction (p-XRD) confirms the deposition of sphalerite, the cubic phase of ZnS. The crystallite size calculated by Scherrer equation was found to be 4.0 nm. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) show clusters of spherical nanoparticles uniformly distributed over the surface of the glass substrates. Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis of the deposited thin films show the zinc to sulfur ratio close to 1:1. The observed band gap (3.78 eV) of the deposited thin films is higher than that reported for cubic phase of bulk ZnS (3.54 eV) as expected due to nano-size crystallites. Binding energies calculated by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) confirm the material as ZnS and the photoluminescence measurements show the blue shift in emission maximum.
ZnO films were grown from 0.1-M zincate solutions on stainless-steel and aluminosilicate glass substrates by the successive chemical solution deposition method. The structure, morphology, composition, and optical emission properties of the films were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and photoluminescence techniques. Results revealed that the as-grown film contains a substantial amount of amorphous zinc hydroxide (15%-25%), at least on its surface. This can be reduced to 7% by annealing the film in argon (350 • C, 1 h). Despite the presence of the hydroxide phase, the films hexagonal lattice constants match the standard values. The films surface texture and the grains shape and preferential orientation depend on the type of the substrate and its surface conditioning. The UV photoluminescence emission from as-grown films at 3.22 ± 0.04 eV (380-390 nm) and its suppression due to the effect of chlorine are addressed.

Zinc sulfide thin films were prepared by chemical bath deposition (CBD) on soda lime glass, silicon and gallium phosphide substrates using an acidic (acetic acid-thioacetamide), and ammonia (thiourea or thioacetamide) baths. The thickness of the films varied from a few nm to 100 nm. Films deposited using the acidic bath showed a smaller concentration of Zn-O bonds and are much closer to ZnS stoichiometry, as it was found by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopies. X-ray diffraction patterns prove crystallinity of as deposited films from the acidic bath, which crystallize in the cubic modification. The optical band-gap energy was determined to be 3.64 eV from the best-fit of spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements.

Nano-crystalline zinc sulfide thin films were prepared by a new chemical bath deposi- tion (CBD) technique onto glass and n-type (111)-oriented silicon substrates. Deposition took place at a temperature of 70 m C and a pH of 6.0, from an aqueous solution containing zinc acetate, thioacetamide, and ethylenediamine. Structural analysis using atomic force microscopy shows that the films deposited on silicon substrates contain 28-30 nm clusters, whereas much larger clusters (around 80-120 nm), comprise the films deposited on glass substrate. X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that both the film and powder formed in the reaction bath have cubic zincblende structure and the clusters in microstructure images are coalescences which they compose of nano-crystallites of about 4.5-13 nm in diameter. UV-Vis spectrophotometry mea- surements give an average transparency of around 70-80% in the visible range (400-700 nm) for the films with different thicknesses and deposition times. Direct band ...

Solid bio-wastes (or organic residues) are worldwide produced in high amount and increasingly considered bioenergy containers rather than waste products. A complete bioprocess from recalcitrant solid wastes to methane (SW2M) via anaerobic digestion (AD) is believed to be a sustainable way to utilize solid bio-wastes. However, the complex and recalcitrance of these organic solids make the hydrolysis process inefficient and thus a rate-limiting step to many AD technologies. Effort has been made to enhance the hydrolysis efficiency, but a comprehensive assessment over a complete flow scheme of SW2M is rare. In this study, it comes to reality of a complete scheme for SW2M. A novel process to efficiently convert organic residues into methane is proposed, which proved to be more favorable compared to conventional methods. Brewers' spent grain (BSG) and pig manure (PM) were used to test the feasibility and efficiency. BSG and PM were enzymatically pre-hydrolyzed and solubilized, after ...
Engaged employees work vigorously, feeling dedicated and mentally absorbed in their work. Much is known about the kinds of jobs and work environments that stimulate employee engagement , yet levels of disengagement remain high in many organizations. To provide fresh insights into how to increase engagement, we draw on theory and research in social, educational, and organizational psychology to illuminate how mindsets are a personal resource that may influence employees' engagement via their enthusiasm for development, construal of effort, focus of attention , perception of setbacks, and interpersonal interactions. We outline several avenues for future research, as well as practical implications for organizational, managerial, and individual-level initiatives for increasing engagement via supporting employees in adopting and sustaining a growth mindset with regard to the challenges they encounter at work.
In this paper we present and analyse the 6th-7th-century Byzantine coins found at Orosháza and its surroundings. The first Byzantine coina follis of Justinian Iwas found in Szentetornya in 1877. Using metal detectors during archaeological survey eight Byzantine coins had come to light: a follis of Justinian I, five folles, a half-follis of Justin II, and two folles of Heraclius. A greater part of them was accurately identified. Here we'll analyse their role outside the Byzantine Empire, as compared to the coin circulation in the Avar Age Carpathian Basin. We try to answer the question why Byzantine coins relatively frequently occurred at Orosháza and its surroundings.
