This chapter explores the fundamental question of why we do archaeology and why do we value the past. One answer gains inspiration from the work of Sigmund Freud and the concepts of the pleasure principle and the death drive. Working through these ideas leads to unusual conclusions, one of which suggests that there is much shared between antiquities traders, collectors, and archaeologists.

Οι έρευνες που μελετούν τις συναισθηματικές δεξιότητες στην εργασία των εκπαιδευτικών είναι περιορισμένες (Brackett, et al., 2008), παρόλο που φαίνεται ότι αυτές έχουν σημαντική επίδραση στο συναίσθημα και στα κίνητρά τους. Στόχος των δύο ερευνών ήταν να διερευνηθούν οι συσχετίσεις της συναισθηματικής νοημοσύνης των εκπαιδευτικών με το συναίσθημα και την κινητοποίηση στην εργασία τους. Και στις δύο έρευνες οι συμμετέχοντες εκπαιδευτικοί συμπλήρωσαν την κλίμακα συναισθηματικής νοημοσύνης Wong Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS· Wong & Law, 2002). Στην πρώτη έρευνα, οι 199 συμμετέχοντες εκπαιδευτικοί συμπλήρωσαν επιπλέον τις κλίμακες: Overall Job Satisfaction (Brayfield & Rothe, 1951), Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach & Jackson, 1986), State Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, 1980) και Job Affect Scale (JAS·Brief, Burke, George, Robinson, & Webster, 1988). Στη δεύτερη έρευνα, οι 98 συμμετέχοντες εκπαιδευτικοί συμπλήρωσαν επιπλέον τις κλίμακες: Ohio State teacher efficacy scale (OSTES·TschannenMoran & Woolfolk Hoy, 2001) και Teachers’ Achievement Goals in Work Questionnaire (Papaioannou, 2001). Τα αποτελέσματα από τις δύο έρευνες έδειξαν, ότι οι εκπαιδευτικοί με υψηλότερα επίπεδα συναισθηματικής νοημοσύνης ήταν περισσότερο προσανατολισμένοι στο έργο, δήλωναν υψηλότερα ποσοστά αυτοαποτελεσματικότητας, βίωναν μεγαλύτερη επαγγελματική ικανοποίηση, περισσότερο θετικό συναίσθημα, λιγότερη επαγγελματική εξουθένωση και λιγότερο αρνητικό συναίσθημα και άγχος στην εργασία τους. Με την παρουσίαση των δύο ερευνών επιχειρείται να διαμορφωθεί μια ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα για το ρόλο της συναισθηματικής νοημοσύνης των εκπαιδευτικών στην εργασία τους.

ÖZET Bilgi ekonomisine geçiş bugün tüm gelişmiş ekonomiler ve Avrupa Birliğinin temel stratejisi (Lizbon Stratejisi) haline gelmesine rağmen ülkemizde gerek araştırmacılar gerekse politika oluşturucular tarafından yeterli ilgiyi görememiştir. Bu çalışma bilgi ekonomisinin ülkemizde daha iyi anlaşılmasına katkı sağlamak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, yeni bir toplumsal paradoks olarak kabul edilen bilgi toplumun ekonomik yapısı olan bilgi ekonomisinin kuramsal çerçevesi genel hatlarıyla açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bilgi ekonomisinin endüstriyel ekonomiyle olan temel farklılıkları 3 ana başlık altında ortaya konulmuştur. Bilgi ekonomisinin temel unsurları: Ar-Ge ve yenilikçilik, nitelikli insan kaynakları, bilgi teknolojileri ve küresel düzeyde dinamik pazar ve iş ortamıdır. Ekonomi biliminin en önemli araştırma alanlarından birisi de rekabettir. Çalışmada, ayrıca, rekabetin bilgi ekonomisinde gösterdiği farklılıklar ve yeni yaklaşımlar ele alınmıştır. İlaveten, ekonomi teorisinde Schumpeter'le başlayan Ar-Ge, teknoloji, bilgi teknolojileri ve insan kaynaklarının ekonomik büyümeye olan katkılarını dikkate alan içsel büyüme modelleri ile bilgi ekonomisi arasında olduğu düşünülen ilişkiler irdelenmiştir.

Elective Affinities: Rethinking Entanglements between Latin America and East-Central Europe, 2024

This lichenological research summarizes the activities carried out in Alba in the years 1992, 1997, 2003, 2024 by comparing the results obtained with the application of the method proposed by WWF Italy in 1990. In 21 stations a quantitative increase in I.A.P. was highlighted. (index of atmospheric purity), in 3 stations there were no variations, in two stations there was a decrease in the I.A.P from 1992 to 1997 and a subsequent increase, in 2 stations the persistence of the lichen desert condition was noted.

This paper takes a broad approach to the British and Irish commemoration of the Charge of the Light Brigade (CLB), by assessing the contemporary documentary and memorial evidence and providing useful case-studies for further research. It builds upon the 1858 study by Captains Colbourne and Brine on Balaklava memorials and cemeteries by including an appreciation of those memorials and graves in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. In contrast to Colbourne and Brine's purpose, which was to provide a catalogue of graves and memorials, this paper seeks to interpret their impact, imagery or importance as required.

The aim of this short paper is to remove the confusion between the mysterious unearthing of a purported 'Viking Longboat' near Newenden in Kent in 1822, and the reality that it was a likely 'Plague Ship' containing human remains of a much later period.
