Despite the enormous personal, social and economic costs associated with gang and gender-based violence in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, outside the region there exists a generally limited and distorted understanding of the sociopolitical context within which violence occurs. This paper examines the sociopolitical context of gang and gender-based violence; the factors that undermine the ability and the willingness of governments in the region to protect the public; and the social, cultural, economic, gender and criminological variables that typically undermine internal relocation as a strategy for escaping life-threatening risk.

This article attempts to assess the financial literacy of college students in India through the application of a questionnaire. The OECD/INFE Toolkit for Measuring Financial Literacy was employed to collect primary data from a random sample of 400 active university students, using financial behavior, financial knowledge, and financial attitude as variables. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics using SPSS. This study finds that the Indian students surveyed have low financial literacy, with a score of 11.82 on a scale of 21. Students have very low awareness of compound interest, the erosion of buying power due to inflation, the benefits of diversification, and the use of credible information for financial decision-making. Financial literacy is indispensable for making proper financial decisions and financial education is important for students. Increased financial literacy will result in less financial concern and greater financial wellbeing. Keywords: Financial literacy, Finan...

This study examined Cambodian teachers’ knowledge and experience related to inclusive education and investigated differences in their knowledge and experience based on schools that implemented and did not implement inclusive education programmes. A survey was administered to 1,008 regular teachers from 236 primary schools of all 25 provinces and cities in Cambodia. Among the selected schools, 50% implemented inclusive education, while the other 50% did not. A four-part questionnaire was employed for data collection. Data analysis encompassed descriptive statistics, the Chi-Square analysis, and the independent sample t-tests. The study revealed that teachers had limited experience and knowledge in implementing inclusive practices. Teachers from schools with inclusive education programmes exhibited significantly higher levels of experience in inclusive education training ( = 0.21, p < 0.001), teaching students with disabilities ( = 0.21, p < 0.001), and collaborative efforts ( = 0.23, p < 0.001) than those from schools without such programmes. They also demonstrated significantly greater knowledge concerning policies, inclusive education (t = -8.29, p < 0.001), and disability (t = -3.12, p < 0.001) than their counterparts. The study provides various implications for improved policies and teacher training programmes to enhance teachers’ knowledge and experience for inclusive practices in Cambodia.
“An island of Jewish autonomous life”: Paul Rosner’s Diary and the Story of the Young Maccabi Movement in Germany, 2024
From April to August 1937, Paul Rosner recorded his experiences while attending the Beth Halutz/Maccabi Hatzair boarding school in Berlin, and while participating in the Maccabi youth movement in Germany. Clearly illuminating his personal history in the group, the diary describes daily life, and offers a glimpse into several important events of the Berlin Jewish community, particularly within Zionist circles. This article first covers the history of the Maccabi youth movement, before analyzing the diary’s coverage of various topics including culture, religion, politics, and leisure. Previously, the official writings of the movement’s leaders dominated the narrative of this group, but Rosner’s diary offers a youth’s perspective that is both unique and complex, exploring the movement’s successful attempt to create a parallel Jewish reality for its members during a period of ongoing persecution.
