Despite decades of research, biodiversity continues to deteriorate. We argue that improving reflexivity is a powerful means to reconcile conservation science with the concerns of the diverse communities that depend upon and care about the natural world. The concept of reflexivity has diverse meanings across scholarly traditions (Rose 1997, Lynch 2000, Boström et al. 2017). Reflexivity can mean taking a step back to critically assess one’s own assumptions. It can mean looking inward at one’s own identity and actions, but also outward to the relationships a researcher develops in the contexts in which they work. It can mean looking forwards to anticipate possible futures, or backwards to learn from the past. As such, scholars largely agree that there is no one way in which to ‘do reflexivity’. However, the concept signifies an approach to research that is self-critical, responsive and adaptable. In this comment paper, we suggest that the frontiers of conservation science should be les...

In recent years, conservationists have been taking an increasingly holistic, interdisciplinary approach to conservation science, utilizing many methodologies and techniques from the social sciences. Reflexivity is one social science technique that holds great potential to aid in the continued advancement of conservation science but is not yet commonly recognized or applied by conservationists. Here we establish a systems-based framework for conservation science and couple it with a discipline-specific definition of reflexivity to enable the integration of reflexivity into future conservation projects. We outline the four major tenets of reflexivity for conservation science, declaring that conservation science i) is informed by personal values, ii) requires true partnership, iii) must contend with its own history, and iv) demands progress. We present practical reflexive techniques that conservationists can use to adhere to these tenets and to foster research-informed conservation efforts that are more collaborative, resilient, and diverse.

In this Diversity article we take a closer look at the explicit ecocentric roots of conservation biology, and we note that a growing number of conservationists have recently voiced support for ecocentric natural value. We argue that although ecosystem services arguments may play an important role in stemming our biodiversity crisis, a true transformation of our relationship with nature ought to be based in part on ecocentric valuation; conservation biologists ought to continue to play a role in leading such a transformation. Conservation scientists and practitioners share many of the same goals. Yet in a majority of cases, we argue, research conducted by academic conservation scientists actually makes surprisingly few direct contributions to environmental conservation. We illustrate how researchers can increase the utility and impact of their scientific findings for real-world conservation, using examples of pressing environ- mental challenges. These examples demonstrate some practices and principles that scientists can adopt to better assist conservation practitioners and advance specific conservation outcomes. These include (1) producing time-critical research rapidly enough to affect political outcomes; (2) attacking ‘wicked’ prob- lems that transcend traditional scientific approaches; (3) using multidisciplinary approaches that link sci- ence with fields such as economics, sociology, and politics; and (4) communicating in a bolder, more direct manner in the public arena to advance environmental conservation. We conclude with a plea for more proactive dialogue between conservation scientists and practitioners when devising research priorities.
Many conservation practitioners and scholars have called for increasing involvement of the social sciences in conservation and better integration among the various disciplines engaged in conservation practice. This research uses the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Fourth World Conservation Congress (WCC) as a site of ethnographic inquiry to explore in-depth how conservation researchers and practitioners view the social sciences in conservation. This paper situates those views in the context of the WCC itself and treats such themes as the appropriate role for the social sciences in conservation, conflicts between social and natural scientists, and sorting out differences between academic social scientists and those working within conservation organisations. It ends with a reflection on what changes new approaches to conservation might bring to the relationship between natural and social sciences in conservation.

From the last few years, the internet and e-commerce have become one of the fastest growing technologies that play a significant role in our life. Now a day’s e-marketing is one of the most emerging technology in IT and E-Commerce sector. Internet marketing is a new philosophy and interesting topic especially for researchers in the marketing field. In modern business practice which involved marketing of goods, services and information with using internet and other electronic means. It is a new way of marketing a product/service globally to the targeted market around the world. Internet marketing has become the commercial tool of marketing product and service. This paper introduces a new approach concerning Internet marketing in electronic commerce; showing how advertisers need this innovation to be successful. E-marketing does not consists only use to promote marketing over internet but also helps in marketing through e-mail and wireless media. This paper discussed about the top motivator factors of shopping online. The present development would be a valuable for researcher and academicians; and useful theory for practitioners, advertisers, and entrepreneurs. This paper is a secondary research regarding how E-commerce gradually forms part of our daily lives. It concerns different aspect of advertising in terms of electronic commerce.
