Dina Goldstein’s photographic series, Fallen Princesses, depicts Disney princesses as live women inserted intobleak, realistic situations. For example, observers see Jasmine on a Middle Eastern battlefield holding a machine gun with an oil well exploding in the background. These images have been an Internet sensation winning numerous awards and acclamations. Despite their entertainment value, they perform significant cultural work by problematizing princess culture in a variety of ways. Such images create incongruity by using shifts in depictions of race, class, and gendered appearances of princes and princesses. By juxtaposing idealized notions of Disney type princesses with bleak negative representations; these pictures create feminist perspectives through incongruities. Enjoyed by a broad cross section of the population, such images jar the audience into considering worlds beyond those idealized by Disney. This essay examines issues of race, class and gender in the juxtapositions and incongruities in several of these images. By identifying the visual rhetorical strategies present in these incongruities between idealizations in fairy tales and stark reality, this essay pinpoints multiple interpretations and the ways that those interpretations function to push the audience to accept feminist principles. Understanding how these conflicting messages have gained acceptance from both fairy tale fans and critics can expose rhetorical strategies that gain wide acceptance while engaging in somewhat caustic social criticism. In particular, a feminist Burkean analysis allows exploration of the ways that these incongruities crack open multiple and contradictory meanings within a text and how these meanings function for different audiences. The article is devoted to the LGBT-protagonists as a new type of heroes in modern foreign fairy tales. Such tales are becoming popular in the modern world. So, there is a problem to read or not to read them and if to read how to do it. The best thing is to analyze them not through the LGBT-base, but through the human being. The writers use traditional tale's plots and heroes and just change sexual nature. LGBT-relationships are typically avoided in children's books. Such tales put children towards understanding these relationships. They also show that protagonists' features and acts are more important for readers than their homosexuality. A human with his feelings and acts is the main thing in LGBT-tales.
This thesis will address how Disney and Pixar have abandoned the traditional princess formula that has garnered Disney the majority of their success to make way for the "third-wave princess" and a storyline that consists of new ideas about gender expectations and to show viewers (especially young girls) that they are not expected to buy into the extreme femininity that Disney traditionally portrayed in their films. The two films included in my thesis will be Brave (2012) and Frozen , which feature the most recent inductees to the Princess franchise: Merida, Anna, and Elsa. I will argue that Brave and Frozen have created a positive, post-feminist construction of gender by abandoning female-centric stories in which the female heroine's happy ending includes a male soul mate. Instead, these two films focus on the struggles and triumphs of unconditional, female familial love without the need of a male presence.
DESCRIPTION We have found that the so-called anomalous acceleration of the Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecrafts results from inadequate estimation of the signal round trip propagation time, so that, based on the radar ranging equation, the measured Doppler shift depends not only on relative velocity, υ, but also depends on actual acceleration, ‘jerk’, etc. The inadequacy of the propagation time pertains to difference between the Round Trip Light Time (RTLT) based on the invariant constant c and its modification by the factor 1+2 υ/c. Numerical results produced with some simplifications from the available Pioneer 10 and 11 ephemeris data very well match the established difference between the Doppler inferred observational and modeled spacecraft velocities both in direction and the amount of the reported anomalous acceleration. Implications and connections to the solar pressure modeling, other spacecrafts’ observations, other’s explanations and relevance to cosmological red-shift are briefly...

Free radicals from one-electron oxidation of the antimalarial drug pyronaridine have been studied by pulse radiolysis. The results show that pyronaridine is readily oxidised to an intermediate semi-iminoquine radical by inorganic and organic free radicals, including those derived from tryptophan and acetaminophen. The pyronaridine radical is rapidly reduced by both ascorbate and caffeic acid. The results indicate that the one-electron reduction potential of the pyronaridine radical at neutral pH lies between those of acetaminophen (707 mV) and caffeic acid (534 mV). The pyronaridine radical decays to produce the iminoquinone, detected by electrospray mass spectrometry, in a second-order process that density functional theory (DFT) calculations (UB3LYP/6-31?G*) suggest is a disproportionation reaction. Important calculated dimensions of pyronaridine, its phenoxyl and aminyl radical, as well as the iminoquinone, are presented.

An exact solution for the tensor Green's function of a harmonic field for a semi-infinite elastic medium is presented in an easy-to-use form in the theory of wave scattering. The solution is derived in the form of a sum of the Green's functions for an infinite medium and the term satisfying the homogeneous wave equation for a semi-infinite elastic medium. The results reproduce the known far-field asymptotics containing longitudinal, transversal and surface Rayleigh-type wave modes. The near-field asymptotic is essentially different for the regions far and near the boundary.
