This is a qualitative study on the Perceptions of Parents on the Modular Distance Instruction in Baslay Elementary School, District I, Cauayan, Negros Occidental. Structured questions, interviews, and Focus Discussion Group were utilized to gather data from the respondents on their age, number of children, education, and family income, their problems and challenges on modular distance education and perceptions. Findings showed that most parents were between 36-40 years old, had three children, college-level educated, and with family income of PHP25,000 per month. Further, parents' moderate perceptions on the problems and challenges on modular distance instruction were on the impact of modular instruction on pupils' daily routine, shifting differences from face-to-face instruction, and teaching support from the schools. These three areas were supported by three sub-aspects that were discussed with parents. Finally, results show that parents' level of perception was moderate or level 3. This study proposed the Strategies Enhancement Plan to improve parents' perceptions and involvement in the modular distance learning.

This study aimed to explore the experiences of the twenty-seven (27) parents of the Grade six learners, as "More Knowledgeable Others" toward Modular Distance Learning Delivery at Cantilo Elementary School, Pamplona 1, City Schools Division of Tanjay. The qualitative method through phenomenological research was used. It is the method of discovering and structuring the meaning of human incidents through interviews with people involved in the real-life experience (Creswell, 2007; Polit and Beck, 2012). Purposive sampling was used as a sampling technique to recruit participants who can provide in-depth and detailed information about the phenomenon under investigation. Findings revealed that the 27 parents have expressed their insights and suggestions in support or against the continuous delivery of modular distance learning in the School Year 2021-2022. Although there were some negative suggestions, despite the minority in scope these deserved the attention of all the stakeholders both in the school and the local government. The majority of the parent-respondents embraced and supported the modular distance learning modality so that the education of their children would be continued, facilitated, and assessed both by the teachers and parents. However, continuous assistance (material and non-material) from barangay officials and LGU officials have always been appreciated. Should the MDL be continued in the upcoming school years, the parents have expressed their all-out support as long as they will continually be guided and assisted by the school teachers and officials regarding the proper procedures for handling their children while learning at home.

Education has undergone a radical change because of COVID-19. It completely altered the way we approach education. The gap in learning possibilities had already widened even before the pandemic, but it had widened more significantly in challenging areas. With the closure of schools, parents' role becomes even more indispensable. Considering the unique difficulties faced by parents caring for their children at home during the lockdown, it is possible that these circumstances have either increased or created new difficulties for at-home parental involvement. Hence, understanding parents' perspectives in terms of their involvement in their students learning during these unprecedented times was the focus of the study. This study presented three (3) cases through multiple case study methodological perspective. The three (3) participants (parents) were selected through purposive sampling on the following bases: (1) they were parents who have children enrolled in a challenged area like the remote or mountainous areas in the municipality of Calinog, Iloilo, (2) they were identified as parents who were actively involved in facilitating the learning of their children, and (3) were willing to participate in the research. Sources of data were interviews and observations from participants and significant other. The result of the study revealed that parents in challenged areas got involved with the modular learning of their children by creating time and opportunity for study, encouragement and through monitoring and discipline. The issues and challenges faced in parental involvement were, parents lack of knowledge, unpleasant behavior of children in answering the modules, working parents, and vulnerable to distraction. The strategies employed by parents in challenged areas in modular learning were constant update with the teacher, encourage simple routines and making use of available support systems.
