PERCEPTIONS OF PARENTS ON THE MODULAR DISTANCE INSTRUCTION

This is a qualitative study on the Perceptions of Parents on the Modular Distance Instruction in Baslay Elementary School, District I, Cauayan, Negros Occidental. Structured questions, interviews, and Focus Discussion Group were utilized to gather data from the respondents on their age, number of children, education, and family income, their problems and challenges on modular distance education and perceptions. Findings showed that most parents were between 36-40 years old, had three children, college-level educated, and with family income of PHP25,000 per month. Further, parents' moderate perceptions on the problems and challenges on modular distance instruction were on the impact of modular instruction on pupils' daily routine, shifting differences from face-to-face instruction, and teaching support from the schools. These three areas were supported by three sub-aspects that were discussed with parents. Finally, results show that parents' level of perception was moderate or level 3. This study proposed the Strategies Enhancement Plan to improve parents' perceptions and involvement in the modular distance learning.
