In 2012, two graves were discovered during some construction works at the Palace of Culture (Iași, Romania). Based on the burial rituals (inhumation, supine position, north-south orientation), the offerings and the funerary inventory we can attribute the two graves to the nomadic-Sarmatian culture of the first centuries AD (end of the 1st century-early 2nd century). The most spectacular inventory items are the rectangular mirror and fragments of a cosmetic box found in grave 1. These are rare, luxury items and imports in the nomadic world from north and northwest of the Black Sea. The two graves are not isolated finds, other contemporary graves have been identified at Iași-Tătărași, Podul Iloaei, Valea Lupului, Lețcani, and Holboca (most of them are secondary burials in prehistoric tumuli).

THE DISCOVERIES OF THE GEOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH GROUP LEAD BY NORBERT PAP WITH THE EYE OF A MILITARY HISTORIAN The South-Transdanubian Group of the Hungarian Association of History arranged a public debate on 5 September 2019 in Pécs about the battle of Mohács. At the event the Mohács 1526–2026 Research Group introduced themselves, and the declaration of senior researcher Norbert Pap attracted the largest attention on 27 August this year about the death of Louis II. The issue of the responsibility of scientist came up, and the question was asked whether or not it is ethical to make such an announcement in front of the public without a public lecture or scientific publication before. However, the head of the Department of Political, Developmental and Regional Studies of the University of Pécs reassured everyone that there are the manuscripts peer-reviewed research articles written by prominent researchers behind his appearances in the press. The author of the present publication who is also the member of the above mentioned research group himself summarises the conception of Pap Norbert and his colleagues based on the declarations published in the press. He establishes that the conception as we have been permitted to read it in such a form is not in accordance with our knowledge about the battle in each aspect. Based on the recurring lack of coherence and the source interpretations that contradict to the known sources it seems that the geographer of Pécs has left at least as many questions unanswered as many answers he would have liked to find with his complex, Geography-based methodology. As a conclusion, János B. Szabó establishes that the new and new announcement made by Norbert Pap are difficult to accept as final results of the research under the Mohács 1526–2026 project.
Learning and Individual Differences, 2013
It was investigated whether children would experience less math anxiety and feel more competent when they, independent of ability level, experienced high success rates in math. Comparable success rates were achieved by adapting problem difficulty to individuals' ability levels with a computer-adaptive program. A total of 207 children (grades 3-6) were distributed over a control and three experimental conditions in which they used the program for six weeks. Experimental conditions differed in pre-set success rate. Math anxiety, perceived math competence, and math performance were assessed before and after the practice period. Math anxiety scores improved equally in all conditions. Improvement on perceived math competence was modest. Math performance, however, only improved in the experimental conditions. Moreover, the higher the pre-set success rate, the more problems were attempted, and the larger the improvement in math performance, suggesting that success in math leads to more practice and thus to higher math performance.
Mεtascience: Scientific General Discourse, 2022
[[THIS IS THE COMPLETE SECOND ISSUE OF MΕTASCIENCE]] This second issue of the journal Mεtascience continues the char acterization of this new branch of knowledge that is metasci ence. If it is new, it is not in a radical sense since Mario Bunge practiced it in an exemplary way, since logical positivists were accused of practicing only a mere metascience, since scientists have always practiced it implicitly, and since some philosophers no longer practice philosophy but rather metascience, but without characterizing it or theorizing it, that is, without realizing that they have abandoned one general discourse for another. The novelty therefore lies in this aware ness that a general discourse without philosophy is possible: a scien tific general discourse. The twelve contributions gathered in this volume illustrate the metascientific approach to knowledge of the world as well as to knowledge of knowledge of the world, that is, science. And like Bunge’s project, they are neither part of the analytical movement nor the continental movement in philosophy. We will read here studies about the Bungean system, some applications of Bungean thought, some metascientific contributions, and some reflections around meta science. Among metascientific disciplines, ontology occupies a prominent place in this issue of Mεtascience. Metascience differs from philoso phy in its rejection of the fundamental philosophical distinction be tween appearance and reality. Metascientific ontology therefore does not postulate the existence of any metaphysical reality. But metasci entific ontology, no more than philosophical ontology, is a factual sci ence. The first, because it studies scientific constructs and not concrete objects, the second, because it is interested in transcendent or meta physical objects.
