The Abraham Accords By Rochelle A. Houser September 26, 2020 • On September 15, 2020, four men signed documents that should be cause for rejoicing. Instead, it is, as we will see, cause for weeping and lamenting. • The United States has brokered a deal of inter-faith peace and economic cooperation between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. •Did it result in peace? Ashdod and Ashkelon Attacked as Peace Accord was Signed • While not caused by the countries in the agreement, there was no peace in Ashdod and Ashkelon when the treaties were being signed. •The Bible warns to get out of Jerusalem, and repent when you see this happen, because destruction is near. Jeremiah 6 • Jeremiah 6 is a chapter talking about this. We will read just a few verses from it now, but read the entire chapter. Jeremiah 6:1 • ““O you children of Benjamin, Gather yourselves to flee from the midst of Jerusalem! • “Blow the trumpet in Tekoa, And set up a signal-fire in Beth Haccerem; •For disaster appears out of the north, And great destruction.” • Jeremiah 6:1 Jeremiah 6:13-14 • “For I will stretch out My hand Against the inhabitants of the land,” says the LORD. • 13 “Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is given to covetousness; And from the prophet even to the priest, Everyone deals falsely. • “14 They have also healed the [c]hurt of My people [d]slightly, Saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace.” Jeremiah 6:18-19 • “18 Therefore hear, you nations, And know, O congregation, what is among them. 19 Hear, O earth! Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people— • “The fruit of their thoughts, Because they have not heeded My words Nor My law, but rejected it. Jeremiah 6:22-23 • “22 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth. Russia? China? The United States? • 23“They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.” Jeremiah 6:26 •“26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.” When Ashkelon and Ashdod Are Attacked, Destruction is Near. Zephaniah 2:1-4 • “Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; • 2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD's anger come upon you. • 3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger. • 4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.” •“11 The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods Zephaniah of the earth; and men shall worship 2:11 him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.” The Lord’s Judgement is Near • Please see these signs in the news as a wake-up call. • It is time to repent in sackcloth and ashes, and be ready for Jesus to come. Bibliography • Slide 1: Picture : The Abraham Accord signed Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the White House.
