Recently, there has been much effort in making databases for molecular biology more accessible and interoperable. However, information in text form, such as MEDLINE records, remains a greatly underutilized source of biological information. We have begun a research effort aimed at automatically mapping information from text sources into structured representations, such as knowledge bases. Our approach to this task is to use machine-learning methods to induce routines for extracting facts from text. We describe two learning methods that we have applied to this task--a statistical text classification method, and a relational learning method--and our initial experiments in learning such information-extraction routines. We also present an approach to decreasing the cost of learning information-extraction routines by learning from "weakly" labeled training data.

Article type: Research Article In times of business adversity, the significance of Employee Engagement (EE) and Customer Experience Management (CEM) is often overlooked by companies. This study aims to investigate the roles of these factors in facilitating the Business Recovery (BR) of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the post-COVID-19 era, with a particular focus on the food service sector. Data for this investigation was gathered through surveys and subsequently subjected to analysis using Maximum Likelihood-Structural Equation Model (SEM) estimation. The results indicate that Strategic Flexibility (SF) mediates the relationship between CEM and BR, while the mediation of EE to BR by SF was not confirmed. The study underscores the crucial role of CEM as a fundamental capability that supports SF, thereby expediting BR. Additionally, this research confirms the interplay between the Conservation of Resource Theory and the Broaden-and-Build (B&B) theory in the formation of a company's Dynamic Capabilities, which ultimately determine its performance. Limitations of this study include a restricted observation period at a single point in time, a lack of sample diversity, and the possibility of subjective responses from respondents during the questionnaire completion process.
Este trabalho pretende demonstrar como é possível trabalhar elementos linguísticos na aula de língua portuguesa tomando como ponto de partida a análise de imagens. Parte-se da análise do quadro Anunciação, de Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519), que consiste em uma representação do anjo Gabriel no momento que anunciava a Maria que ela fora escolhida pelo Senhor para ser a mãe de Jesus, seu filho. Essa representação está de acordo com o evangelho de Lucas, 1:26. Para o entendimento dos elementos visuais dispostos no quadro é necessária uma explanação acerca do período histórico do Renascimento, no qual viveu e empreendeu sua obra Leonardo Da Vinci. O acesso a esse contexto se dá por intermédio da linguística aplicada e da semiótica discursiva greimasiana, que possui aplicação no campo dos estudos da imagem, assim como nos estudos linguísticos. Por último, é demonstrada a pertinência dessa metodologia para as aulas de língua portuguesa, cujo insucesso no Brasil é sintoma de ausência de reflexão metodológica por parte dos professores. Com isso, pretende-se aqui delimitar possibilidades de atuação docente, pois para que um aluno produza um texto, é necessário que ele tenha o que dizer, por isso, justifica-se a expansão do conhecimento em direção a todas as áreas do saber nas aulas de língua portuguesa.
In this article, we introduce the Joint-Venture Negotiation Box (JVN-Box), a new methodological approach to evaluate the negotiation between two players in a joint-venture partnership. The JVN-Box primarily calculates a suitable point of balance between two players and hence, generates harmony in a joint venture partnership. Since the division between players always depends on the opportunity cost and incentives in the process of negotiation, the study proposes the need for players to diligently engage in formal discussions to find the most suitable point of balance to consolidate a joint venture partnership. The JVN-Box helps to find that suitable balance point and hinges the success of any joint venture negotiation between two players on the effort of hard work by the weak player to step up and sacrifice welfare to step down from the stronger player.

This paper analyses the relationship between interest rates and stock prices in the context of India. The objectives of the paper are to investigate the impact of interest rates on stock prices and build a model for forecasting stock prices based on interest rates. Karl Pearson's coefficient of correlation and linear regression model have been applied on the time series data of eleven sectoral indices published by Bombay Stock Exchange and Bank rates published by Reserve Bank of India for a 18 year period from April 2000 and March 2018. Karl Pearson's coefficient of correlation is tested for significance and coefficient of determination is also computed to assess the extent of fit of the regression model in forecasting the stock prices. The results show that six sectors (auto, bank, FMCG, finance, IT and Healthcare) out of eleven sectors were significantly impacted by the interest rate. The overall market represented by the market index (Sensex 30) was also impacted by the interest rate.
Background: Nursing is a stressful profession and COVID-19 added another layer of stress to nurses and nursing educators. In order to identify those areas that are most stressful to students a survey was deployed at a small midwestern university across all nursing programs. Materials and Methods: The Student Nurse Stress Index (SNSI) is a 22-item questionnaire that evaluates items stress on a 5-point scale Likert scale. This survey, along with demographic questions and open-ended qualitative questions regarding symptoms of stress and coping mechanisms, was distributed to nursing students in all programs including pre-nursing, the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, the RN to BSN program, the BSN to DNP program, MSN Nurse Educator Program, MSN Nurse Administrator program, and the MSN to DNP program. Results: Fatigue was identified as the most common symptom of stress, while feeling overwhelmed and worrying were also rated very high. Qualitative data revealed a variety of coping mechanisms, including healthy, unhealthy, and mixed mechanisms. Conclusion: A preliminary review of stressors, symptoms of stress, and coping mechanisms will allow for future research to help mitigate the negative impact of stress on those who are caring for our those within our communities.

The coupling between topography, waves and currents in the surf zone may selforganize to produce the formation of shore-transverse or shore-oblique sand bars on an otherwise alongshore uniform beach. In the absence of shore-parallel bars, this has been shown by previous studies of linear stability analysis, but is now extended to the finite-amplitude regime. To this end, a nonlinear model coupling wave transformation and breaking, a shallow-water equations solver, sediment transport and bed updating is developed. The sediment flux consists of a stirring factor multiplied by the depthaveraged current plus a downslope correction. It is found that the cross-shore profile of the ratio of stirring factor to water depth together with the wave incidence angle primarily determine the shape and the type of bars, either transverse or oblique to the shore. In the latter case, they can open an acute angle against the current (upcurrent oriented) or with the current (down-current oriented). At the initial stages of development, both the intensity of the instability which is responsible for the formation of the bars and the damping due to downslope transport grow at a similar rate with bar amplitude, the former being somewhat stronger. As bars keep on growing, their finite-amplitude shape either enhances downslope transport or weakens the instability mechanism so that an equilibrium between both opposing tendencies occurs, leading to a final saturated amplitude. The overall shape of the saturated bars in plan view is similar to that of the small-amplitude ones. However, the final spacings may be up to a factor of 2 larger and final celerities can also be about a factor of 2 smaller or larger. In the case of alongshore migrating bars, the asymmetry of the longshore sections, the lee being steeper than the stoss, is well reproduced. Complex dynamics with merging and splitting of individual bars sometimes occur. Finally, in the case of shore-normal incidence the rip currents in the troughs between the bars are jet-like while the onshore return flow is wider and weaker as is observed in nature.
