In hospitals, it is of high significance to give due attention to the behavioral and social status of nurses as the key staff of the medical environment, and this can guarantee the desirable quantity and quality in providing services for the patients. The present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between social health and work conscience in nurses working in the selected hospitals of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2017. Methods: The sample of the present study includes 569 nurses working in the 5 selected hospitals located in Shiraz, Iran. The sampling was conducted with a random stratified sampling in proportion to the strata size. Questionnaires of work conscience and social health as well as the questionnaire of pairwise comparison and decision matrix were used for collecting the data. Structural equation modelling was applied to test the research questions using SmartPLS 3. Results: The findings indicated that there is a significant statistical relationship between social health and work conscience (0.483). Moreover, other findings of the present study indicated that there is a significant relationship between all 7 aspects of social health and work conscience. The effect of social responsibility, conscientiousness, family relationship, attitude to society, social participation, empathy, and social interaction on work conscience was 0.366, 0.209, 0.203, 0.299, 0.147, 0.126, and 0.473 respectively. Conclusion: Since social health and its aspects have significant effects on work conscience, the hospitals are required to give due attention to the nurses' social health.

Background: Nurses constantly deal with ethical concerns, as their decisions may cause irreversible consequences for the patients. This study aimed to investigate work ethics among nurses, based on Weber's theory of work ethics. Methods: In this quantitative cross sectional survey, data were collected using the multidimensional work ethics profile. Cronbach's alpha and face validity were applied for measuring the reliability and validity of the questionnaire, respectively (total Cronbach's alpha, 0.82). Considering the total sample size of the study (n, 283), including all active nurses of public hospitals across Ilam, Iran, no sampling method was applied and data were collected through whole counting.

Background: Ethical issues may pose challenges to nurses; moral sensitivity can help them to overcome these challenges. Identifying variables related to moral sensitivity can help in planning to increase nurses' moral sensitivity. This study aimed to investigate the relationship among mindfulness, empathy, and moral sensitivity in a sample of nurses. Methods: In the present study, a cross-sectional design utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted. The nurses in a private hospital in Yazd, Iran, were invited to participate in the study (n=162) using simple random sampling. In order to gather the data, the Freiburg's mindfulness inventory, moral sensitivity questionnaire, and revised Jefferson's empathy scale were used. The hypothesized model was analyzed by SEM. Results: The results show that Mindfulness (β=0.41, t=5.53, p<0.01) and empathy (β=0.52, t=6.77, p<0.01) had a significant direct effect on moral sensitivity. However, mindfulness had an indirect effect on nurses' moral sensitivity via empathy improvement (z= 6.25, p<.01). Conclusion: Empathy played a significant mediating role in the relationship between mindfulness and moral sensitivity, so mindfulness-based interventions with an emphasis on empathy may provide an opportunity to increase moral sensitivity in nurses.

Background: The hospital ethical climate affects the quality of nursing care. A positive ethical climate is likely to reduce the proportion of those who consider leaving the profession, so it is necessary to develop tools which will enable assessment and analysis of the hospital ethical climate. The aim of this study was to examine selected psychometric properties of the Polish version of the Hospital Ethical Climate Survey, assess the hospital ethical climate perceived by nurses and midwives from Polish hospitals, and to determine its correlations with job-related variables. Methods: A cross-sectional study among 558 nurses and midwives working in hospitals in Poland. Results: The 21-item model showed acceptable model fitness between the hypothetical model of ethical climate and the data in the study. Five items with low factor loadings were removed from the study. The internal consistency was satisfactory (0.93). The mean score for the overall hospital ethical climate was 3.62. Th...

The aim of the present study was to explore the relationship between work environment and moral sensitivity among Japanese (n = 138) and Norwegian nurses (n = 71), and to compare the results from a sociocultural perspective using a descriptive-correlational design. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results point to a significant relationship between work environment and moral sensitivity for both groups of nurses. In comparison, the Japanese nurses were more focused on &amp;amp;amp;#39;patient centered oriented care&amp;amp;amp;#39;, reported &amp;amp;amp;#39;work engagement&amp;amp;amp;#39;, seeking &amp;amp;amp;#39;meaning in difficult caring situations&amp;amp;amp;#39; and &amp;amp;amp;#39;following rules&amp;amp;amp;#39;. In addition, they ranked the factor &amp;amp;amp;#39;values in action of patient care&amp;amp;amp;#39; as significant and &amp;amp;amp;#39;relation to superior and colleagues&amp;amp;amp;#39; and &amp;amp;amp;#39;job stress and anxiety&amp;amp;amp;#39; ranked significant to &amp;amp;amp;#39;moral conflicts&amp;amp;amp;#39;. The Norwegian nurses were more independent, which was correlated with moderate significance with &amp;amp;amp;#39;job stress and anxiety&amp;amp;amp;#39;. A significant correlation was found between &amp;amp;amp;#39;physical and mental symptoms&amp;amp;amp;#39; and &amp;amp;amp;#39;moral conflicts&amp;amp;amp;#39; among Norwegian nurses.

Resolving The Interpretational Issues of the Word CHAMPA
From its first conceptualization in modern psychiatry, psychopathy has been considered difficult if not impossible to treat. Schema Therapy (ST) is a psychotherapeutic approach that has shown efficacy in patients with borderline personality disorder. ST has recently been adapted for personality disordered forensic patients, including patients with high levels of psychopathy. The present case study examined the process of individual ST, combined with movement therapy and milieu therapy by the nursing staff, with a forensic inpatient with psychopathic features (Psychopathy Checklist-Revised total score ϭ 28.4). The patient had been sentenced to a mandatory treatment order in relation to a sexual assault. We assessed change using independent assessments of psychopathic traits, cognitive schemas, and riskrelated behaviors over the 4-year treatment period and a 3-year follow-up. We also assessed the quality of the working alliance. Reliable change analyses showed significant improvements in psychopathic traits, cognitive schemas, and risk-related outcomes. At 3 years posttreatment, the patient was living independently outside of the forensic institution without judicial supervision and he had not reoffended. While many questions remain about the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic treatment for psychopathic patients, our study challenges the view that they are untreatable.
