Hospital management system is a distributed web Application developed to maintain the details of hospital in any hospital. Hospital management system is a computerized system designed and programmed to deal with day to day operations taking place. The program can look after inpatients, outpatients, records, database treatments, status illness, billings in the pharmacy and labs all assets in the Hospital. It also maintains hospital information such as ward id, doctors in charge and department administering. The purpose of the project is to computerize the Front Office Management of Hospital to develop software which is user friendly, simple, fast, and costeffective. It deals with the collection of patient's information, diagnosis details, etc. Traditionally, it was done manually. The hospital's management system includes improved profitability, improved administration, and better patient care. The goal of this study is to create a digital management system that will boost the hospital's effectiveness and systems integration standards. It was able to produce a module that would provide some facilities, like booking doctors, booking lab test slots, pharmacy services, and getting health programs. This system consists of an admin handling part, which means admin can manage users, pharmacy systems, health program management, and manage booking of doctor's appointments and lab tests. Every hospital needs an online system whereby it can accommodate the everyday hospital tasks comfortably and maintain smooth flow of operations. There should be a system where the patients are categorized under insurance policy and non policy holders and the system helps the hospital management to claim the bills from concerned insurance companies. All these needs and much more are fulfilled in Hospital Maintenance System. Hospital Maintenance System is useful to record patient’s details. It also records the inpatient details and outpatient details and arranges the appointment of doctors. Hospital Maintenance System also provides the management reports like schedules, appointments of doctors, inpatients, insurances and discharges. It also is used to generate bills dynamically for the discharged patients etc. The administrative user can access all the details regarding the patients, doctors, accountants, and also manipulate them accordingly. He can also create new users and change their passwords. He can add/delete information related to inpatients, outpatients, rooms availability, billing, management reports and insurance information. The doctors can view his own appointments and information of inpatients and outpatients for any day. An accountant can add the information related to patient insurances and view all the reports. He can view the details of inpatients, outpatients and discharged patient’s information. He also collects the bill amount from the patient and enters it into the system. OBJECTIVE : Hospitals currently use a manual system for the management and maintenance of critical information. The current system requires numerous paper forms, with data stores spread throughout the hospital management infrastructure. Often information (on forms) is incomplete, or does not follow management standards. Forms are often lost in transit between departments requiring a comprehensive auditing process to ensure that no vital information is lost. Multiple copies of the same information exist in the hospital and may lead to inconsistencies in data in various data stores. A significant part of the operation of any hospital involves the acquisition, management and timely retrieval of great volumes of information. This information typically involves; patient personal information and medical history, staff information, room and ward scheduling, staff scheduling, operating theater scheduling and various facilities waiting lists. All of this information must be managed in an efficient and cost wise fashion so that an institution's resources may be effectively utilized HMS will automate the management of the hospital making it more efficient and error free. It aims at standardizing data, consolidating data ensuring data integrity and reducing inconsistencies. PROJECT OVERVIEW : The Hospital Management System (HMS) is designed for Any Hospital to replace their existing manual, paper based system. The new system is to control the following information; patient information, room availability, staff and operating room schedules, and patient invoices. These services are to be provided in an efficient, cost effective manner, with the goal of reducing the time and resources currently required for such tasks. The paper describes about an idea of such a web based platform that make many medical/hospital procedures online using Web, networking technology that can be very important in implementing the functionality of online medical management.
