In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Korean Association for Broadcasting and Telecommunication Studies (KABS) and to launch a new scholarly journal, KABS will hold a twoday conference with the general theme of "Global Digital Technology and Culture" in Seoul, South Korea, on August 17-18, 2018. The primary goal of the conference is to broadly discuss the changing digital technology environment and its cultural, social and/or psychological consequences from a global perspective.
The International Journal of Communication (IJoC) continues its successful progress, more than fulfilling the hopes that we had when we launched the journal in 2007. One of our goals was to demonstrate that an online-only, open access, Creative Commons licensed publication could manifest the highest standards of scholarly publishing. We believe that we have succeeded in meeting this goal, as evidenced by the growing number of submissions, the quality of the work that we publish, the generous cooperation of literally scores of colleagues around the world who assist us by reviewing articles, the large numbers of readers who visit our site, and, certainly not least, by the decision of the major social science indexing services-Thompson Reuters, EBSCO, and Elsevier, among others-to index our content. In brief, our numbers speak for themselves: IJoC has received submissions from 69 countries. For 2012, the top countries of origin are the United States (45%), India (8%), Spain (3%), China (2%), South Korea (2%), Germany (2%), Iran (2%), and the Netherlands (2%). Other countries from which we have received multiple submissions include Australia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The number of IJoC visitors and registered users has steadily increased. At the end of our first year, we had 1,481 registered users. This number has increased each year of publication-to 2,404 by the

Call for Papers - Culture and Digital Transformation Conference, 2022
The Dar al-Kalima University will be holding its 24th International Conference on Culture and Digital Transformation in Cyprus on June 10-11, 2022. The conference is organized by the university and the Christian Academic Forum for Citizenship in the Arab World (Cafcaw). As digital transformation has impacted the way we create, display, experience, and consume culture, the conference is dedicated to the exploration of current practices and future trends in the use of emerging and interactive digital technologies and platforms in different Southwestern Asian and North African (SWANA) cultural realms such as in arts and religion, as well as the effects of digital transformation on tradition, identity, cultural diversity management, and sustainable development. The aim of this conference is to promote critical and interdisciplinary approaches and dialogue between participants from diverse fields and backgrounds on digital advances. It provides an excellent forum for academics, artists, and practitioners to present and discuss the latest advancement and problems, as well as future directions in digital transformation and culture in today’s SWANA environments challenged by the pandemic “new normal”. The Dar al-Kalima University invites academics, artists, and practitioners -- from the fields of visual and performing arts, cultural studies, cultural heritage, social/political studies, theology/sciences of religions, computer science, artificial intelligence, among others -- to submit by March 19, 2022, an abstract of their research paper/talk or a description of a live artistic production/performance on one of the themes of the conference. Travel arrangements and expenses during the conference (flight ticket, visa cost, PCR tests, airport-conference venue transportation, accommodation, meals) will be made/covered by the Dar al-Kalima University. CHECK OUT THE PDF DOCUMENT FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONFERENCE AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES.
The present study1 reviews the interdisciplinary literature on online flow and analyzes the theory and the underpinning factors – with a special accent on the construct of interactivity. The focus of our review is the impact of rapid technological evolutions on the conceptualization and operationalization of interactivity. The main objectives of our study are: first, to provide a systematic review of online flow; second, to identify and further investigate important constructs that are specific to the context of online search; and finally, to provide directions for future research in this area. In order to support our exploratory theoretical research we have conducted a systematic electronic search using ProQuest, Social Science Citation Index, EBSCO, ScienceDirect and other bibliographic sources, such as unpublished doctoral theses. In addition to the search for referred journal articles, we included five IS related conference proceedings (ICIS, ACIS, WWW 2007, MMM, INFORMS) in our...
This course is an upper-level undergraduate (and introductory-level graduate) examination of global media and globalization. We will explore a variety of media systems, texts, and practices from around the world, and different ways of studying and understanding them. We will also consider what is at stake when people study and discuss global media, globalization, and related concepts in the current era, marked as it is by the increased movement of capital, ideas, people, and data. Students are expected to design and conduct an original research project and engage actively with course readings and discussions.

The international symposium Communication in the Millennium has been organized since 2003 by scholars in Turkey and the United States, and each year the symposium organizers have noticed increasing interest in this academic event. Because of this interest, the co---founders and the organization committee of this symposium decided to form an association where both countries' scholars are represented.
