Kush and Meroe: The Egypt that did not fall

Kush and Meroe: The Egypt that did not fall

2015
Birgitta Hoffmann
Abstract
While Egypt succumbed from the 8th century BC to a series of foreign invaders, its southern neighbour in the Sudan, though sharing much of the Egyptian culture, remained an independent kingdom and became increasingly a problem for the new rulers in the North. This dayschool will look at the history and archaeology of this fascinating culture.
