El concepto y el método en economía 1.1. ¿Qué se entiende por economía?

This paper reports on a recently discovered Middle Paleolithic and Neolithic/Chalcolithic open-air flint extraction and reduction complex at Mt. Achbara in Israel's Eastern Galilee. Lithic assemblages recovered from a few of the hundreds of tailing piles documented in a field survey indicate a combination of Middle Paleolithic finds including Levallois cores and Neolithic/Chalcolithic finds, mainly bifacial (axe/adze) tools. At present, the extraction and reduction complex at Achbara is one of four found on the flint-bearing Eocene Timrat formation of the Galilee. Together, they provide evidence of intensive Paleolithic and Neolithic/Chalcolithic flint extraction, in quantities that most probably exceeded local consumption. After describing the new complex, we discuss its possible relation to nearby occupation sites, with a focus on the Middle Paleolithic Amud Cave.

This paper aims at evaluating the impact of globalization, if any, on inflation and the inflation process. We estimate standard Phillips curve equations on a panel of OECD countries over the last 25 years. We first show that the impact of commodity import price inflation on CPI inflation depends on the volume of commodity imports while the impact of non-commodity import price inflation is independent of the volume of non-commodity imports. Second, focusing on the role of intra-industry trade, we provide preliminary evidence that this variable can account (i) for the low pass-through of import price to consumer price and (ii) for the flattening of the Phillips curve, i.e. the lower sensitivity of inflation to the output gap.

Radiología Intervencionista (abreviada RI, IR o en ocasiones VIR para Radiología de Intervención Vascular, también conocida como cirugía con imagen o cirugía radiológica) es una subespecialidad de la Radiología en la que se utilizan técnicas de imagen para ejecutar procedimientos mínimamente invasivos. Se utilizan imágenes para dirigir los procedimientos radiológicos, que son usualmente ejecutados con agujas, guías y catéteres. Las imágenes proporcionan una guía que permite al radiólogo encaminar estos instrumentos a través del cuerpo hacia las áreas seleccionadas.

In this note my aim is to point out a phenomenon that has not received much attention; a phenomenon that, in my opinion, should not be overlooked in the professional practice of philosophy, especially within feminist efforts for social justice. I am referring to the way in which being a non-native speaker of English interacts with the practice of philosophy. There is evidence that non-native speakers are often perceived in prejudiced ways. Such prejudiced perception causes and constitutes wrongdoing. As in other cases of prejudiced perception and biased behavior, it would be pretentious and misguided to expect philosophers and the philosophy profession to be free from this vice. There are good reasons to think that this prejudiced perception is bad not only for the persons who are perceived in such a way, but also for the profession, for it might make us miss important things that could improve philosophy in general. I claim we should be more sensitive to this phenomenon, both for justice concerns, and for the sake of doing better philosophy.
