The class session will start with a prayer. The
teacher will ask for a prayer leader.
Prayer Leader: For the non-Catholics, you may do
what is necessary and for the Catholics let us bow
down our heads and feel the presence of the lord.
Dear Lord, as we embark on today's lessons. Please
open our minds to new ideas, our hearts to
understanding and empathy, and our spirits to the
joy of learning. Help us to focus, to listen attentively,
and to participate actively. May we respect each
other's thoughts and opinions, and engage in
meaningful discussions that will broaden our
perspectives.
May what we learn today contribute to our growth
and prepare us for the future. Help us to use this
knowledge responsibly and for the greater good.

The teacher will now check the attendance of the

Teacher: But before anything else, let's check the
attendance first. Please say present if your name is

d) Classroom Management
Teacher: Before we proceed to the class discussion,
please make sure that your chairs are properly
arranged, and pick up some trash near your seat.
Remember that a clean environment is an
environment that is conducive to learning and
growth.

Teacher: Now, during our last meeting, we were
able to discuss the usage of appropriate cohesive
devices in composing an informative speech. Thus,
before we delve into our new lesson let's activate
your prior learning, students. Our first activity for

Instructions: A worksheet and stamps will be given
out to each group. Discuss with your members and
check if the sentences use correct cohesive devices.

The Fast and the Puzzled: Jigsolve Me!
Instructions: The class will be divided into the same
5 teams. One jigsaw puzzle will be distributed to
each team. The jigsaw puzzles are a set of pictures
and at the back of the pictures are a set of words
related to the lesson. Five minutes will be given for
each team to solve the puzzle. First team to solve
the puzzle wins the activity.
Following the conclusion of the recap of the previous
discussion and motivation. The teacher will now
move on to discuss the main points of the lesson.

Parallel Structure
- using the same construction for sentence
elements that are the same in function.
Rules to consider when checking for Parallel
Structure in your writing:
1. Parallel Structure should be used when elements
are joined by conjunctions:
Incorrect: I am allergic to the dog’s hair and how it
smells.
Correct: I am allergic to the dog’s hair and smell.
2. Parallel Structure should be used when writing
elements in the form of a list or a series:
Incorrect: The class valued respect, honesty, and
being on time in a teacher.
Correct: The class valued respect, honesty, and
promptness in a teacher.
3. Parallel Structure should be used when
comparing or contrasting elements (A is better
than B or X is less than Y):
Incorrect: Leclerc enjoys reading more than to write.
Correct: Leclerc enjoys reading more than writing.
Furthermore, these are the levels of parallel
structure.

1. Word
- On a word level, a noun should be grouped
with other nouns, an adjective with other
adjectives, and so on.
Example:
● Sainz loves walking, reading and trekking.
2. Phrase
- On phrase level, avoid mixing noun phrases
with verb phrases.
Example:
● Jedri likes to ski, to swim and to jump rope.
3. Clause
- It is also applicable to a series of clauses in a
sentence.
Example:
● The future of housing is undecided. The future
of transportation is unknown. The future of
infrastructure is in flux.

Lights, Parallel Structure, Action!
Instructions: The class will be divided into 5 groups.
Each group will write a short skit that includes at
least three examples of words, phrases or sentences
that have parallel structure. They will be given 8
minutes to prepare. After they've written their skits,
each group will perform in front of the class.
Each group will perform it in various acting genres.
