Abstract
"There and Back Again" was published in volume two of the 2011 Pacific Crest Trailside Reader. This piece is part narrative scholarship, part environmental philosophy and is concerned with the restorative or regenerative benefits of direct experience of the more-than-human world and the problematic idea of "nature" as a place of "escape" or escapism."
