BEYOND COVID-19: MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES AND OUTCOMES ON DIVERSE FIELDS Pandemic Process and Differences in Learning Approaches This study aims to determine and compare the learning approaches adopted by education faculty students before and during the pandemic in terms of various variables. In this study, the survey method, one of the quantitative research designs, was used to reveal the learning approaches adopted by faculty of education students in the face-to-face and distance education processes. The research group consists of 307 students enrolled in first and third grades in the Faculty of Education at Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University. In order to determine the learning approaches preferred by pre-service teachers, the “Learning Approaches and Study Skills Scale” developed by Tait et al. (1998) and adapted to Turkish by Senemoğlu (2011) was employed. As a result of the research, it was determined that the mean scores of deep and strategic learning approaches of students in both distance and face-to-face education with respect to various variables (gender, grade level, department, and access to the internet) were higher than the mean scores of the surface learning approach. In addition, although the mean scores of deep and strategic learning approaches in both face-to-face and distance education were high, it was concluded that these mean scores significantly decreased when switching from face-to-face education to distance education and that the scores of the surface learning approach increased significantly.

Background: The COVID pandemic has caused drastic changes in education systems in the world. The government enforced the restriction of all the educational institutions all over the country and also throughout the world. Due to shut down of institutions, the mode of learning shifted from on-site, in person learning to online, virtual mode. Thanks to the advancement of the technology and sciences, we were able to connect students to their professional world virtually. The study intends to acknowledge the student's mentality while attending online classroom and also highlighting the challenges faced due to the online education. Materials and Methods: The study was based on descriptive cross-sectional study and conducted through consented online survey where forms were distributed via social media. A total of 320 participants consented for the survey and willingly participated for it. Results: The survey showed that though the online mode of study was helpful in keeping up with the education, barriers can lead to obstruction for the fluidity of education. Conclusion: We should come up with more innovative ideas to connect students and professors with minimal barriers between them. In conclusion, distance learning is a good alternative when classroom learning is suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic period. It is also important to recognize that, distance learning cannot replace the need for on-site and face-to-face learning, but can complement existing traditional classroom-based learning models. Distance learning has an impact on changes in individual learning readiness and the preparation of institutional facilities to blended learning.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left a mark on education as it had been known before. Beyond his, attention needs to be paid to the transition back to face-to-face learning and its implications. Within this context of change, the present research focuses on identifying the students’ preferred aspects of online education during the pandemic, namely learning, teaching, assessment, and interaction with peers and teachers, in order to improve face-to-face education by contextually adapting it to their needs. A survey was used on a representative sample of students from Politehnica University of Timisoara, Romania, who were required to indicate their preferred form of education and the most beneficial one for their professional development. The results indicate the targeted students’ several preferences, such as teachers’ support with electronic educational resources, the use of online educational platforms to access resources and take tests, the easier and individualized communication with te...

This study aims to determine students' perceptions of limited face-to-face learning during the COVID-19 pandemic at SMAN 1 Singaparna in the 2021/2022 academic year. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of an open questionnaire to class XI MIPA 4 AND XI MIPA 5, especially in the subject of Islamic education SMAN 1 Singaparna. The results showed that the students towards this limited face-to-face learning were very enthusiastic. With limited face-to-face learning, students can return to school and interact with teachers and their peers, can directly receive lessons from the teacher, and can discuss related lessons learned. This makes the learning process more enjoyable. The learning delivered by the teacher is easier to understand because the teacher explains directly not only giving assignments so that this limited face-to-face learning is the right solution to the problems faced by s...

The crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has seriously impacted the way we work, learn and behave in everyday life. We were forced to work from home, i.e. work remotely, and learn using methods that were rarely or even not used until the pandemic. Switching from classes at the university with direct contact with the teacher to online classes had advantages, but also some disadvantages. Some universities already had some experience in conducting online classes and knew how to use them for various types of studies. Other universities took advantage of the platforms offered by international organizations, prepared new forms of education and adapted the program to their technical capabilities. New forms of education turned out to be a big challenge for both students and professors. The aim of the study was to compare the methods of distance education used both in universities with extensive experience and in universities where distance learning, at least due to applicable legal regulations, was less popular. Design/methodology/approach: The article analyzes the distance learning methods used by universities. The results of interviews conducted with students, teachers and the authors' personal experiences are described. Findings: We have discovered that students have no problems using online education techniques and highly value the opportunity to use materials prepared by lecturers and made available on remote education platforms. Moreover, they derive satisfaction from the opportunity to learn independently and search for materials on the Internet. One of the main conclusions was that the future seems to belong to a blended learning system, combining physical and online learning. Originality/value: The value is the originality based on the interviews and post COVID point of view.

The emergency situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic required all Italian universities to implement alternative teaching strategies to traditional face-to-face lessons. At the University of Catania, this situation prompted the start of distance learning paths in a synchronous mode at the very beginning of the emergency. At the same time, the lecturers were encouraged to video-record the lessons in order to make them available to students also in asynchronous mode. On the basis of this emergency situation, an investigation was immediately launched to identify the consequences of the new teaching methods on student learning processes; the research began in the first phase of the lockdown in Italy (March 2020) and ended in January 2021. The aim of this contribution is to present the results of the research conducted on a sample of 300 students following bachelor degree courses of the Department of Education at the University of Catania. The research aims to detect the students' points of view on the strengths and weaknesses of the synchronous and asynchronous ways of presenting lessons and their respective impact on learning processes. The results of the research could provide useful insights to rethink university teaching even when the emergency situation comes to an end.
