The article deals with the factors that determined the evolution of Christian church-building from the 4th century to the Late Byzantine period. These factors include the need for expressing Christian ideology at the level of architectural conception. The architects, influenced by centrally domed buildings and timber-roofed basilicas, created dromic buildings with the dome as the dominant feature. During the period of Iconoclasm cross-shaped compositions predominated, which were propagated in various ways in later centuries. After the end of the 9th century, monasticism played a defining role in the development of church building.

In 1932, spelling rules for the native language of the Valencian Country were accepted in the Valencian city of Castelló. In fact, this decision meant the acceptance of the rules proposed by Pompeu Fabra for the Catalan language and consequently also the implicit acceptance of the essential identity of Valencian with Catalan. Despite this almost unanimous verdict of all the Valencian cultural forces, attempts at linguistic secessionism that seek to establish Valencian as a literary language independent of Catalan have continued to this day. With the recent electoral successes of a political party (Unió Valenciana) defending this secessionist position, the issue is once again very acute. This study re-frames learning disabilities (LD) through the emotion-laden talk of four Latina/o students with LD. The research questions included: 1) What are the emotion-laden talk of Latina/o students about being labeled with LD? 2) What are Latina/o students' emotion-laden talk of the idea of LD? I identified master narratives, the "pre-existent sociocultural forms of interpretation. They are meant to delineate and confine the local interpretation strategies and agency constellations in individual subjects as well as in social institutions," (Bamberg, 2004, p. 287) within the following literatures to inform my research questions and conceptual framework: a) historiography and interdisciplinary literature on LD; b) policy (i.e., Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)), c) the academic and d) social and emotional dimensions of LD; and e) student voice research with students with LD. Interdisciplinary, critical ethnographic and qualitative research methods such as taking into account issues of power, etic and emic perspectives, in-depth interviewing, field notes were used. Total participants1 included: four students, three parents and three teachers. More specifically, descriptive coding, identification of emotion-laden talk, a thematic analysis, memoing and intersectional and cultural-historical developmental constructs were used to analyze students’ emotion- laden talk. Emotion-laden talk about being labeled with LD included the hegemony of smartness, disability microaggressions, on the trinity of LD: help + teachers + literacy troubles, on being bullied, embarrassment to ask for assistance from others and help as hope. The emotion-laden talk about the idea of LD included LD as double-edge sword, LDness as X, the meaning of LD as resource, trouble with information processing, speech, and silence, the salience of the intersection of disability, ethnicity and language and other markers of difference, struggles due to lack of understanding and LD myths. This study provides a discussion and implications for theory, research, policy, and practice.

Ο νερόμυλος του Διαβόλου ένα αυθεντικό βαλκανικό λαϊκό παραμύθι Οι παραδοσιακές ιστορίες τρόμου του χωριού.
Το παραπάνω κείμενο αποτελεί καταγραφή ενός αυθεντικού λαϊκού παραμυθιού, όπως το λέγανε στα παιδιά στις αρχές του περασμένου αιώνα. Η ιστορία είναι από την ευρύτερη περιοχή της πόλης Κιουστεντίλ και συγκεκριμένα από το χωριό Ντρουμοχάρ, όπου βρισκόταν το πατρικό σπίτι της προγιαγιάς μου, την οποία δεν γνώρισα ποτέ, αλλά η οποία έλεγε την εν λόγω ιστορία στον παππού μου και στα παιδιά της οικογένειας όταν ερχόταν η ώρα για ύπνο σαν παραμύθι. Το όνομα του χωριού της – Drumohar προέρχεται από τις ελληνικές λέξεις «δρόμος» και «χάριν», καθώς από εκεί περνούσε ο δρόμος που συνδέει τα γύρω χωριά – Nevestino και Vaksevo με την πόλη Κιουστεντίλ.

Drawing from humanizing pedagogies (Bartolome, 1994; del Carmen Salazar, 2013; Freire & Ramos, 1993) and humanizing research (Paris & Winn, 2013), in this article I propose an approach to humanizing assessment that begins with the position that inclusive and equitable educational opportunities and assessment practices that meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners from minoritized communities serve to improve the quality of education for all learners. Humanizing assessment works toward assessment approaches that are (1) decolonizing; (2) historicizing; and (3) communing to counteract decades and centuries of harmful testing consequences. This paper focuses on ways to move forward if or when assessment is necessary through participatory, community-building efforts.

Se presentan algunas categorías sobre la generación y la apropiación de riqueza en el capitalismo, que se utilizarán como instrumentos para las reuniones siguientes del curso. Tienen por lo tanto un carácter introductorio y un alto grado de selectividad de los aspectos principales de los fenómenos centrales. Nos referimos a “enfoques” marxistas en plural, por qué el aporte de Karl Marx ha sido interpretado, desarrollado o actualizado por numerosos autores que se consideran sus discípulos y discrepan en muchos temas significativos. Se presentan las definiciones en el capitalismo de valor de cambio de las mercancías, la fuerza de trabajo como mercancía, la plusvalía y la explotación; con la máxima fidelidad posible a las definiciones de Marx. En el último capítulo se pone en discusión una interpretación de los supuestos implícitos en el análisis de Marx en El Capital y se presentan los que se consideran los principales aportes al desarrollo de su obra para comprender el capitalismo en los siglos XX y XXI, la categoría imperialismo y su evolución.
