This is just a screenshot of the bing imagery analyser at zoom level 1 (with key moved).
Somebody has run some sort of bot on this service, to make requests spaced out on a grid, but covering the whole globe. When you're at zoom level 1 that grid not visible, and instead we see a contiguous area of colour representing bing coverage.
