Natural childbirth arose in opposition to the techno-medical model of childbirth that has recently gained popularity in industrialized societies. One of such opposed medical interventions is Caesarian Sections popularly referred to as C-sections. . Prior to the advent of Caesarian section, maternal-mortality rate and Neonatal/Infant mortality rate with their morbidities were on the increase. Over the years, reality has shown that vaginal delivery may not always be possible. Sequel to the introduction and practice of C-section, reality have shown that the importance of C-sections in salvaging or safeguarding the health of the mother, child or both a times cannot be overlooked under critical health conditions. Surgical removal of neonate(s) has over the years gained ground because its benefits both the mother and the baby; for certain indications would be worsened by vaginal delivery such like preterm/premature labour, oligohydraminos, cord prolapse, malpresentations of the fetus and to some extent birth injuries which could also occur requiring immediate intervention. From the fore-going, it becomes clear that women require alternative or preventive measures to avert these ill effects/ outcomes of unsuccessful vaginal delivery. Over the years, there have been controversies over whether c- section is a curse or blessing in disguise even though the benefits outweighs the negative outcomes. It is to this end that this project seeks to establish how vital are the indications of elective C-sections and the possible outcomes of emergency C-sections because it has become paramount that not all C-sections can or should be prevented. In some situations, a C-section is necessary for the well-being of the mother, the baby or both.
